Default Good womens shorts for biking, runing and possible swim?

My girlfriend is an AVID runner but has professed
interest in duatholon ..... maybe triathlon.

I want to buy her some shorts for her birthday but not
up on the clothing out there?

Any advice on brands and styles to look at?

For Duathlon, the most common short I see is a "tri short", which is
basically a bike short made of a lighter material and with a lighter pad
that accommodates running better (and swimming, though that doesn't
matter in a Du).

In Tris, The same type of short is very common, but you'll also see more
shorts that are bikini-shaped. I'd have to depend on the ladies to step
up and describe the advantages or disadvantages of each style, just
thought I'd share my observations.
