They're good, but except for Halladay, they're an into-the-middle-innings
staff. None of them seems to have the capability to go deep into a ballgame (meaning to the end of the 7th). Tonight Litsch got pulled after 5+. If this keeps up the bullpen will burn out. |

A lot of teams have that problem, especially early in the year. I'm predicting a high scoring four game series vs the Tigers. > |

The Jays have a good chance to take 3 of 4. These are really the kinds of series the Jays should feast on if they hope to make the postseason. |

Tonight Litsch got pulled after 5+. If this > keeps up the bullpen will burn out. Gibbons doesn't have a clue how to manage relief pitchers. Once he goes to the bullpen, he becomes a formula manager. changing pitchers, even if they are pitching effectively, he changes them because they throw with the wrong hand. He takes these match-ups to the extreme. Not having enough middle relievers, or the not being willing to let then pitch 2 or 3 innings, and having too many 1/3 or 2/3 of an inning pitchers will burn out the bullpen. Sure the stats might support pitcher/batter matchups sometimes, Gibbons thinks it might work everytime. My guess, if the stat existed, it woud show that the more pitchers used in a game increases the chance one of them will be cold and blow the game |

He takes these match-ups to the extreme. If he doesn't manage this way, he'll get blamed for the Jay's losses by Ricciardi. cordially, as always, rm |

Managing that way would only make sense if he had a bullpen full of stopper style relievers who challenge the hitter rather then finesse the strike zone. |
