Stupid move right now. The kid has yet to play even a quarter a major
league season and he is getting money a more experienced veteran would
get. I bet BJ Upton is pissed. Him sitting there with a contract at
$390K per year and some kid who has played less than 10 games gets a
long term deal worth upwards to $45 million over 9 yrs.

This deal will mean the Stu is going to really have shell out some
dough or the likes of Kasmir, Crawford and Upton are gone.

BJ Upton is only getting $390K per year? I guess you're right. If
they want to keep the team intact, without having to start over, every
few years, he's gonna have to offer long term contracts.

I think the reason he did not get it this year is because the Rays were
holding out on the status of Rocco, as of now the Rays are exercising their
option on Rocco's contract.

I'm hoping they could get a deal in place by the all star break or the trade
deadline
