The Bucs are at it again, headed for last place in a hurry.
No offense of any kind. No starting pitching. Overworked bullpen (who knows how good they would be with an average starting pitching staff?) No defense. (even when Jack Wilson comes back - one above average SS doesn't raise a bad defense above terrible). Now the Pittsburgh scribes are at it again, in the Press and on TV and radio. In the Press, they rail at the players. They complain about the management in thedugout and in the front office. On TV, more of the same. On the Radio, Lanny Frattere continues to laugh his way through the games, getting excited when the Pirates almost come back to tie the Cubs early in the game at 5-3. Funny thing, 'cause we all know that even IF the Pirates HAD tied up that game at 5-5, they would have still lost big time, as they did THIRTEEN to SIX !!!!!!!!! Oh, what's the one thing they got right this year? NO SLOGAN to throw away April 30th, such as "We Will", when we know they never will under the present ownership! Ok, they got onemore finally right. They allowed Nate McClouth to start in centerfield. All this Pete Rose type player did in the minors was hit and hit. Finally, after three years, they allowed himto play and now they can't figure out how to get him out of the lineup. And he's not the one making all the errors! THE PROBLEM is what it has been and NOT what the scribes and the rest are talking about. THE PROBLEM is the ownership of the Nutting family. They are cheap and will NEVER step up to fund this team properly so that it can have a chance to win. Obtaining players such as Adam Laroche for the clean up spot is never going to put this team in contention. Putting players such as Jason Bay in the #4 hole when he's clearly, on any good team, a #3 or #5 or #6 or #7 hitter is never going to put this team in contention. Thank you Nutting family for continuing the saga of losing baseball in Pittsburgh. At your snail pace it'll be twenty years before this team has a chance to compete again for anything other than LAST PLACE. And oh yes, WHY oh WHY do some fans keep going to the games? You can by hot dogs and beer most anywhere? Want some baseball caps and player dolls? Buy 'em on e-Bay for a fraction of what they're worth. A 13 year disgruntled fan. Your comments welcome. |
