Default Aaron Heilman - 4/30/08

Let's hear it for Aaron who pitched two scoreless innings today.

We now know that he can pitch when he has no pressure on him.

While I didn't punish myself by watching the final seven innings, the
boxscore seems to indicate that the Pirates were taking a "getaway day"
approach to hitting during the late innings. Heilman retired six hitters in
the eighth and ninth innings on a total of 20 pitches; the inning before
that, Feliciano threw all of five pitches. In other words, they saw 25
pitches over the last nine batters/three innings. I'm going to guess that
Oliver Perez threw more than that in the second inning alone.

It was mop up work. I do believe that Heilman is a servicable pitcher,
but not by going on todays day.
