Default Avery to NY

Avery Johnson has already declared himself a Knick:

"[after the first round elimination second year in a row] There are a lot of
people in bad shape around here, I'm not one of them."

This ought to be music to Jimmy ("winning is not integral to our strategy")
Dolan's ears.

Thanks to the selfless devotion of brave men Jason, Josh and Dirk, our next
coach is now officially available.

Come to think of it, didn't Mark Cuban praise Isiah Lord Thomas III a few
months ago? He now has an opening in Dallas for him. I'd really love to see
that combo together.

Does that mean you think Dallas should have easily beaten New
Orleans?

That's a "when did you stop beating your wife?" question. Avery has been
outcoached in the playoffs for a number of years now. Sheer talent-on-paper
wise, yes, Dallas should have. But it takes more than paper to win a series.

Well, three is the number...and two of those times were by Riley and
Nellie.

I wouldn't put it all on Avery; Dirk's been a playoff choker his whole
career (numbers but not much heart) and the post-Nash Mavs seem to be
a bit short on that ever-elusive "chemistry". Defense has also been a
problem; I'm not sure who you'd put on that club on Paul and West,
even though I'll grant that old Kidd and Nowitzki were probably not
the guys. Something tells me their numbers are going to be slightly
less stellar with Bowen and Duncan on those two, although I guess
we'll see tonight.

That said, I don't want Avery here...

I think it means Dirk is the new Patrick Ewing.
