Kenny Smith for GM. M Jackson for coach.
http://is.gd/9pe What do you think about Woody Allen for head of scouting? Ooops, Isiah Lord Thomas III is already doing that. DG |

The GM chair needs a known quantity imo moreso than the coach. RIGHT OFF THE BAT we need top flight work to be done from that position from somebody who has worked with other NBA execs before. Geez, of the names that have been shot around for GM so far I'd almost say just keep GG. |

I don't think Smith is a good idea (have we learned nothing from inexperienced GMs?) but I think we should recognize that it's going to be a challenge to get someone good in. The stench of Grunwald's history with Toronto hasn't quite escaped my nostrils -- I have no reason to believe, until he does something good, that he's worth hanging onto. |

Walsh is going to be calling the shots as far as trades and signings go. A good GM for the Knicks will be someone who has lots of contacts around the league and can get the right people on the phone quickly. I'm not saying Kenny Smith is the right guy, but if he's on good terms with former players in front- office positions (and there are plenty), he's worth taking a look at. The experience factor is something I'm a lot more worried about for the coaching vacancy. =p= |
