Yup. Unlike last year, winning 9 of our last 11 isn't gonna guarantee us
shit this time.
Pouta 10-07-2008, 04:28 AM funny how in the ' 06 playoff loss, LT went apeshit when the pats were
imitating Lights' dance...
yet against miami, many of the dolphins were imitating LT's own
teardrop, and not an eyebrow was raised on the Chargers bench !

If we win 9 out of the last 11, we're getting in. The problem is:
winning 9 out of the last 11. Easier said than done.

That's cause the team knew they deserved it.

I'm saving this post to use against you at a later date.

OK.
BTW, when was the last time an 11-5 team failed to make the wildcard.
I'm going to go look it up.
Before doing that though: There's definitely a bit of "parity" going
on this year. No team (maybe the NY Giants excepted) looks dominant.
Everyone's got a weakness.

I looked at the records back to 1997 and 11-5 teams always made the
playoffs.
10-6 doesn't guarantee it though. There were several 10-6 teams that
did not make it.
Some years, things were really unbalanced and 9-7 teams made it. One
year, the Rams made it at 8-8. Generally speaking though, 9-7 won't
get it done.

Denver failed to make the playoffs in 1985 after finishing the season at
11-5. That was the season the Pats and the Jets were the wildcards also
with 11-5 records, Miami won the AFC East at 12-4 and Cleveland was the
default winner of the AFC Central at 8-8. To my knowledge that is the
only time and NFL team has gone 11-5 and failed to secure a playoff berth.

Doh! The Raiders won the AFC West at 12-4 leaving the Donks on the
outside looking in. Check for yourself at:
