Yup, between your guys stepping up and ours sucking ass, the Phins

I actually feel bad coming in here and kicking dirt in your drinking
coolers, because the Chargers were a good team on the rise until Norv
started driving.

Then the Marty ran out.

*shrugs* It's possible. Not sure what to place the blame on with the
guys playing so poorly.

I'll tell you. Rivers is gonna have to play a lot faster behind this
O-line.
I don't think the line can suddenly become physical, but Rivers can sure
as hell stop taking the sacks and start putting the ball in receivers hands
as they come out of a break. Onyone can be get open for a second.
Rivers is almost always late with the ball IMO.

4.7/passing play is crap. Pennington who is known for his inability to go
deep had 7.4/play.

Nope. They are much improved for sure. They are not an elite team
even if they looked like one against us.

Don't get me wrong, they played well, but even with us playing like
high schoolers and the Phins having a great game, it was still
winnable.

The future looks bright for the Phins.

Rivers played poorly. When he did let it go on time (which wansn't often) he
missed throws that he'd made in the first three games. Hard to single him
out, though, through the overall suckitude.

Just a bad game.

We keep playing like this and we'll be 2-6 on the plane home from London
wondering what the fuck happenned to our "superbowl" season not mention
arguing why we didn't keep Brees.

I'd quibble that the only idiots who picked us to go to the superbowl were
doing it off hype.

"We've problems up front. Both sides of the ball. We're "good", not "great",
and we're going to have trouble with teams that ARE great and have decent
skill position players. Hope we have some noobs that show well on the front
lines and/or hope some of the old guys start playing back to form, but we
may have missed our
window."

That was cut-and-paste from my season prediction.

Good? I can't say that. I can't even support average.

By trouble you must mean getting whipped by 3 touchdowns.

Who on the O-line do you want to see? Clark?
We might finally see Naanee with Chambers injury, not exactly
one of the guys I felt was really sucking.

Yes, I have to agree. Jackson was open on the out route but Rivers
didn't deliver the ball until much later and it turned into an
incompletion.

He also missed Jackson on the deep ball because he just HEAVED it, he
didn't PASS it. That's the difference. Watch Peyton go deep, he
generally knows approximately where the ball is going to land. Rivers
chucked that thing up there and just hoped something good would happen.
Jackson had his man beat deep but Rivers just missed him.

Notice, by the way, that when we DID try to throw the ball down the
field, we had a 42 yard completion to Jackson and a TD to Chambers. But
heaven forbid we challenge the Dolphins 26th ranked pass defense
deep...we need to throw more screen passes!

That paragraph was snipped from a pre-season post. The "noobs" I wanted to
see step up were people like Tucker and Shelton and Dobbins, only moreso -
and I _still_ don't know what happened to Rivers (LB) except for that blurb
about being reinjured. We played crappy today, but I think our personnel is
still "good", our defensive scheme is "crappy", and we're a above-.500 team
_if_ we play well. But I sure don't feel like putting any energy into
defending that position today.

Which was also a prayer of a pass where Jackson had to adjust to the ball
and make a nice play over a smaller DB.
I see our receivers making a lot of double moves. On that play the first
move broke Jackson open inside and the second sends him back to the DB
who stayed way outside.

Yeah. I don't have a big problem with Dobbins and Tucker and Harris LB
play.
What I can't stand is seeing drop 12 yards deep into a zone and letting a
guy
get an easy catch of 8 yards straight across the middle. A fall forward
gives
'em a first down. Meanwhile our 4 man rushes rarely get pressure while
the opposite (the opponents 4 man rush) is often true.
Rivers certainly didn't look at all comfortable or accurate when on the move
today.

I sure have a problem with Tucker being out, and Applewhite is just another
notch down. This D-line is the same names as two years ago, but not the same
players. Actually, same for the O-line. Argh.

I'm starting to think our real shot was 2006, and we blew it.

Tucker was missed. That's deep into the depth chart at that spot.

> This D-line is the same names as two years ago, but not the same players.

The blitz schemes are too easy to read and our run D is intermittent
while the short pass D is non-existant.

RT changed...and wasn't it two years ago they dumped the headcase
guard for Dielman? Guy with a eating disorder or something.
Maybe that was in 05.

Rivers first year under center? That wasn't gonna happen.

Sure, but that's the point. We have tall athletic WRs. When they face
smaller DBs who aren't exactly the strength of the defense we should be
putting the ball up and letting them make something happen.

The Dolphins pass defense isn't ranked 26th in the NFL for nothing.

Why the hell not? His youth and/or inexperience didn't prevent us from going
14-2, and he did nothing to lose the playoff game. I said it two years ago
and I'll say it again: if not for McCree failing to fall down and thereby
committing the most colossal fuckup in the history of the franchise, I have
no reason to think we wouldn't have hoisted the Lombardi trophy for '06.
