Ben M. Schorr 10-05-2008, 07:10 PM They're running a college offense, but we're running a high school
defense.
Where the heck was Weddle going on Camarillo's TD? Was he assigned to
cover Tony Sparano?
If MIA's secondary is supposed to be suspect why is it that we're taking
almost no shots downfield?
How many times are we going to gain 1 yard on a screen pass to LT before
we get the idea that maybe the Dolphins are ready for the screen?
I'm not a "Fire Norv" guy but it sure looks to me like we're getting
outcoached in the first half.

I don't know what Rivers is doing, just holding the damn ball,
dancing and then checking down to a 5 yard pass that is still
off the mark.
I think our shitty O-line is getting into his head.
Complete lack of a running game doesn't help.

Ben M. Schorr 10-05-2008, 07:24 PM Will somebody explain why're lining up 7 yards off and playing zone when
the Dolphins are inside the 10? Ted Cottrell may be the worst defensive
coordinator in the NFL. Our schemes are ridiculous, our coverage is
terrible (There wasn't even a Charger in the picture when Ginn caught
that underneath pass), and nobody ever seems to have outside contain.
We're playing this stupid loose zone that leaves receivers wide open
most of the time.
It's a good thing Jammer is a good tackler because everybody catches the
ball around him. It's no surprise Cromartie has more career INTs (in
his 3rd year) than Jammer does; Jammer never seems to make a play on the
ball. He seems content to let the WR catch it then make the tackle.
This is getting embarrassing.

Been that way all year.

He seems shocked their actually throwing the ball his way.
Still I see the whole secondary giving up catches.
We've had maybe two QB hurries from pressure and 1 coverage
sack. Chargers D is gonna give Penningtons career QB rating a
50% boost.

Gosh, we start the 2nd half in man and...3 and out. Almost like I've
done this before.

Cromartie at least attacks the ball in the air like he wants to catch
it. They just had that hitch to Ginn, but that's because Cromartie had
to line up so deep - at least he held it to 2-3 yards.

We're back to dropping LB's 12 yards off the LoS making Pennington look
like God.

Our defense also seems insistent upon failing to cover fat, slow tight ends
who invariably stand uncovered in the middle of the field for 18-20 yard
gains. Each week it's been the same shit. We're making guys named Rosario
and Fasano look like fucking superstars out there.

I wonder if there was a reason the Bears didn't really try to keep

On the seam route to Fasano in the 3rd(?) both of our inside linebackers
chased a route to the hook zone and left Fasano open. Out guys looked
totally lost and left Fasano wide open for a 15+ yard completion.

I think every active LB was out there on defense at times today.
Usually some of those guys see little action beyond special teams.
IMO, if you have inexperience players, you simplify and send 'em after
the QB. Sadly Cason didn't seem to be able to cover today either
so I don't know if that would work unless...
Is it not PC in football today to set your goal of getting the opposing
QB out of the game?
Beck has zero experience.

Cason made a few rookie mistakes, but surely he's lined up at that spot
in practice...didn't the DBs coach point out that you don't give up
inside position on man-blitz? You want your pressure to either get the
sack or force the quick throw and if it's going to be a quick throw you
want the QB to have to throw the ball up for grabs trying to loft it
over the DB, not have the easy throw on a slant.

Well, obviously we're not going to try and injure Pennington. That's
not really a good way to approach the game.

I haven't seen any coordination of the secondary coverage
with game situation, pass rush, down/distance etc. all year.
Most of the time I'm wondering WTF are they doing?
