View Full Version : Mets Auction

I got the email today telling me about stuff being auctioned from
Shea. I was a little non-plussed at some of the items such as a plant
stand. I saw that the AIG part of the fence is on the list. I
thought that was going to Endy. Maybe he'll buy it.

The only thing in my price range was the brick for $50. I considered
it and then read the part about it being destroyed as the stadium is
taken down. Would be my luck not to get one.

And I sure hope that someone is documenting the dismantling. I look
forward to seeing it on SNY.

Much of what was being offered seemed to be a waste.

I did order 2 seats though. Was torn about the money, but my wife
insisted reminding me that I've been going to Shea since it opened and
that it would be great for me to have the seats as a reminder of many
memories there. Attended all 1973 playoff games and WS. Watched Seaver
pitch a snowy opening day vs Montreal. Saw Seaver pitch his first game
back as a Red and rooted for him against the Mets that day. Was there
during the blackout in 77. Went to 3 playoff games in 06... had a
Saturday plan for a number of years. Took each of my three boys there
often as they grew up. And have a number of unused WS tickets because
they didn't make it.

I have a terrific wife :-)

Paul

You realize that the seats you ordered are different than the seats
that were there when Shea opened don't you? The current seats were put
in in the 1980's.

I realize that, but I've spent many days in those seats too
