When someone stopped by the group a week or two ago and said something
to the effect of how Cardinals fans should have fun and be honored
watching the best team in baseball (Cubs) be in the playoffs while we
jealously sat around pissing and moaning, it was difficult to take.
I never thought I'd say this ... but he was right. I DID have a lot
of fun watching the Cubs in the playoffs. :)

If you'll take a gander at the header, it says "PING: Jeffy
Asslips..." This directed specifically at him. I made no mention of
any other Cubs fans or Cubs fan in general.
Based on your reading comprehension, I guess you're a twit, too.

Me, too!
Maybe we've seen the last of Eric M. for a *long time* on this
ng?
I hope! <he is probably crying in his water-glass by now>

I thought that Eric's posts this season were worth reading and I didn't
see any trollish behavior from him. I like hearing another teams
perspective on things from time to time.

What is wrong with you? You do realize that most of your fellow fans in
this NG don't even respect you. I feel honored that you care so much about
me to call me out. LOL. If I am your worst nightmare in this NG you have
problems, my friend.
The Cubs flat out choked. Not much else to say. Was it the pressure or
just the fact that they have an offense that is built for the regular season
and not post season? Hard to say. I think changes definitely need to be
made next year. The pitching should be solid and they still have a good
team and will likely be in contention to win the division again. Who's
going to challenge? We'll see. Brewers are going to drop off. Cardinals
have many question marks.
Go Bears and Go Mizzou. Way to go Illinis. I still have some good
football to look forward to. No crying here. Sorry to disappoint.
I will pop in a bit over the offseason just to annoy you! Lance and I will
toast to your ignorance around the fireplace when we go on our annual ski
trip to Aspen in January. ;-)

Thanks, Darrell. If I'm a troll then I'm not sure how we start classifying
guys like aslip.
When "A" goes into the Cubs NG to rub it in, it kind of makes you laugh when
he considers me a troll.

I can think of few things more harsh than one Cardinal fan telling another
Cardinal fan that he is less welcome in his "house" than a Cub fan! LOL.

A kloo for you:
Mere posting in a newsgroup, even a rival team's newsgroup, does not
make one a troll. Trollish behavior makes one a troll.

I'd love to hear your definition of troll'ish behavior Jean....having ones
own opinion and standing by it? Not backing down from attacks to one's
character when voicing those opinions? Enlighten.

So would I. She fancies herself the Lord and defines what is
and what is not 'trolling'.
BTW, that's just a made-up word to bash somebody whose opinions
one dislikes.
Everybody has a right to post in *whatever* ng one wants to post
in and deliver his opinion.
If you disagree, so be it.
But you can't label and defame someone by despicable
name-calling as in 'troll'.
Does Jean get her words and lines from old nursery rhymes?
>having ones own opinion and standing by it? Not backing down from attacks
>to one's character when voicing those opinions? Enlighten.
She can't--since she would be defining something that is
undefined and completely made-up just to trash someone's opinion she (or
others) disagree with.

Who is this Jean you're talking about; this person's messages aren't
making it to my newsreader.

"In brief, internet-trolling means posting irrelevant,
controversial, equivocating, ambiguous, or unclear response to a genuine set
of arguments. Those who do such things are called as "an internet troll." It
is commonly done in discussion forums or in usenet newsgroups."
That definitely does NOT describe me!
Not even close.
I don't give irrelevant, equivocating, ambiguous, or unclear
responses.
The only adjective that possibly could fit me is
'controversial', and that isn't enough by itself, anyway.
So, again, the whole 'troll' smear is just that: a personal, ad
hominem smear catch-all word just for the sake of smearing someone whose
opinion you don't want to hear.
Thanks for the confirmation on my suspicion on others (mis)using
that word!

I'm with you, Jeanne. I don't see any messages from Jean. Go figure...
