View Full Version : 1-16?
Chiefs! 10-06-2008, 01:18 PM I honestly thought we were going to win 5 this year. But after this
performance..............I'm trying to figure out where the other 4
wins are going to come from. I'm saying 1-16 because I wouldn't be
surprised if Herm finds a way to lose on our bye.

Looks to me as if Herm has 1-15 set as a goal for this year.
Also it really pisses me off when he says " I don't know what is wrong",
That
should be a clue that the man isn't an NFL caliber coach.
As a person I think he is a truly great guy and might make a good position
coach
but he doesn't have the knowledge to be a head coach. his record speaks for
that.
It looks like this season is a big shit sandwich and we will all have to
take a bite.

Actually, if a head coach says something like that after such a horrible
beating, its grounds for dismissal. Immediately. He knows what is wrong. His
team was utterly unable to perform at any level except punting and its his
responsibility.
I have come full circle, back to last season, where I ended up before I
tried to give him and the rebuilt team the benefit of the doubt. I was dead
wrong. He deserves the benefit all right.... his unemployment benefit.
He is in way, way, way over his head. Calling him incompetent is a gracious
kindness. Listening to his ridiculous mealymouthed spiel is like hearing
fingernails on a chalkboard. He needs to go, now.
The man doesn't have the class or common sense to STFU when its time to be
quiet and go lay down somewhere. I am pretty unhappy with his coaching, but
the endless, pathetic, ignorant drivel that comes out of his mouth is
something Clark Hunt needs to spare us. Please.
They won't need to worry about paying his undeserved salary for long. After
the scandalous Kiffin firing, the only coach Al Davis is going to be able to
hire is Edwards.

So you predicted the Denver win? And @ San Diego last year?

Yeh that San Diego win last year is really going to help us this year.

The point I was making is that you can't just look at the schedule and
count every game as a loss just because you think the Chiefs are worse.
There will be more Denver-type upsets, as well as horrible losses to
teams that the Chiefs should at least compete with. That's the NFL,
especially when you're rebuilding.
Believe it or not, there are four teams with worse records than the
Chiefs, and three teams, including a presumed Super Bowl contender, also
with only one win.
Not sure what all that means, but when you basically blow up a team and
start over, as many have been wanting to do for years, this is what you
end up with. The only surprise is that people are surprised. <shrug>

Preach it. People wanted progress, and still they keep blaming crazy stuff
like the Allen trade, and the failure to play poor prospects like Thiggy at
QB, for the problems.
Personally I subscribe to the theory that the fish rots from the head down.
I am willing to accept the pitfalls of reorganizing and rebuilding, but more
and more its becoming obvious that Edwards is in way over his head in that
regard, and Peterson has long outlived his opportunity to be successful here
in KC.
Everyone knew we would do poorly, although the lackluster play of a team
that should be very energetic is erring on the side of conservatism and lack
of focus rather than through overenthusastic play, overruning plays, poor
judgment, and so forth. Edwards is throttling exactly that which a young
team needs to engage in to learn and become respectable forces in the NFL.
So I have few complaints with the team right now, and understand that a QB
cannot necessarily be resolved until the OL is resolved, and that its futile
to spend big money on a QB now, AND futile to expect big success from
whoever is under center. I do have a complaint about Highway McIntosh, and
more so with Edwards' foolish insistence on entrenching him in a position
where he is constantly overmatched, instead of letting other players have a
hack at it.
But I do think it is time for Edwards to leave. Now.
Here is what I would do if I could be Clark Hunt for a while:
1. Fire Edwards today.
2. Make Chan Gailey the interim HC, and seek high powered talent after the
season, with a willing checkbook in hand. I think we would see an immediate
improvement in offense if he were not throttled by Edwards' self defeating
game philosophies. Edwards' said you play to win the game, but he is the guy
who plays not to lose.... even when he is already losing.
3. Fire Peterson at the end of the season, and promote Bill Kuharich to GM.
Of course that makes sense to me, but YMMV. However its time to quit beating
on the things that do not matter, things that are to be expected, and people
who are limited by what they have to work with, and its time to support our
young players who are taking a beating to try to make this a better team.
