Signing Mark Teixeira should be on top of the "to do" list. He was one
of the positive things about the ALDS. He played like he's been there
before. If Teixeira becomes unattainable, focus should turn to CC
Sabathia if he is still available. I'd prefer Teixeira over Sabathia. If
the Angels don't land Teixeira, the obvious choice to play first would
be Kendry Morales. I believe John Lackey, Garret Anderson, and Vladimir
Guerrero all have team options for 2009. I would pick them all up.
Francisco Rodriguez, Juan Rivera, Jon Garland, and Darren Oliver are all
free agents. Unless the Angels can get Oliver for a decent price, I
wouldn't try to sign any. I'm sure more ideas will pop into my head
during this long off-season.

IMO, the sleeper of this years free agents is Hank Blalock.

Not sure about Teixeira: no extra base hits, one rbi.

Anyone else think that the Angels need a different approach at the plate?
(hint: batting coach)

just my opinion...of course, pick up the options on Lackey and Vlad.
Make offers to Frankie and Rivera. Do what we can to sign Teixeira,
but I don't expect to see that happen thanks to Boras.

I'd set a limit on how high to go with Teixeira and Frankie. If the
former gets too expensive then there's no point in turning to CC
because CC will be in the same price range, maybe higher. I tend to
like having players return so I'd love to see all of the guys come
back...except Garland. I was never comfortable with him on the mound.

As for closer, I think we've got some good candidates already who, if
given 69 opportunities, would also have set the major league record.
For sentimental reasons I'd like to see us keep Frankie. But if it
means breaking the bank (is that possible?) then I'd say thanks for
the memories with complete sincerity, but it'd be time to move on.
