ChiSox fan here - I bet with my head, not with my heart and put $90 to
win $50 on the Rays(series bet). Anything is possible in a short
series and although the Sox got the job done when they had to I just
don't see it carrying over the the ALDS.

Anyway, unlike the trolls who stop by after the game and 'brag' on how
they knew what the outcome would be, I figure I would at least post
before the series started.

And if the White Sox somehow win, I'll just have to try and win $90
more when I am in Vegas come late October :-)

At least your honest about it. I think that the Sox get past the Rays
in 4. The next series is the tough one. Red Sox and Angels are
tough. I know that the Angels haven't had to win a game since April
but still. And, the Red Sox are still the Red Sox. 2 rings in the
last 4 years. Even with all of their injuries, they are still a tough
team to beat.

You'd bet against these White Sox?
If your using your head (which doesn't sound very intelligent), why didn't
you go bigger with such certainty?

I guess that that's what the game is all about (and I'm not talking about
the bucks).

Such as?

Which NG are you referring to?
I haven't read anything about anyone's predictions here.
Most here have been quite quite quiet.
So you're betting against our team and informing us in this NG?

> I figure I would at least post

Well we hope that you lose your lousey $90 regardless.

You can always bet against your friends (and enemies) than go all the way to
Nevada, you know?
And you won't even have to drink and drive over (t)here or accidentally step
off any of their streetcurbs into oncoming traffic after you lose or
collect.
No good luck to you from here buddy.
I can only hope you the wor$e, but not the ultimate worst.
Stay out of trouble and don't try stealing any hubcaps during your visit.

You found a pidgeon. The Rays, by my numbers, were a 2.5 to 1
favorite.

The problem with trolls is they're disingenuous trash who don't
pay off. I've been saying the Dodgers were 3-1 underdogs who
could beat the Cubs in a 5 game series. I did get down $100 to
win $260 on the Dodgers from someone I know will pay. I also
got down $100 to win $200 on the Red Sox.

Good approach!

2 down and 1 to go :0)

To T. Hagen:

You can either bet against Chicago teams when the game counts or get
ulcers when they lose. All those disappointed Bears fans when they
lost the super bowl a few years back. When will they learn, when
will they learn.

And if the Sox have a miraculous comeback (not), more power to them!

To Mr Adams, nice on the Dodgers bet. As to the Red Sox. my dentist
is a huge Yankees fan so he bets the Red Sox (in Vegas) to win the WS
figuring doing that would somehow alter time and space, allowing the
Yankees to take it all. He didn't even cash his previous winning
BoSox bet in because he was so disgusted the Yankees didn't get in.
No worries he says, it was only worth a few hundred bucks. Hell,
offer it to me LOL.

Betters are a whole different breed, that's all I can say, err type.

Or you can expect the worst and compensate for it by betting against your
team or are they really your team?

It didn't break my heart. The '85 team was next to legendary, and that's all
I've ever asked for.

> And if the Sox have a miraculous comeback (not), more power to them!

I'd be quite embarrassed to rattle off comments as yours - especially as the
series continues.

> Betters are a whole different breed, that's all I can say, err type.

What your saying is "I can't afford to lose in life so I'll take a split (I
lose and I win, one way or the other)", right?
Then you come here and rub it in when you're ahead. If you were behind,
you'd come here to cheer for your team. Rah, rah, right?
We call those types fair-weathered. Agreed?

You paid $90 to see the White Sox lose?!?!?
And yet you say "ChiSox fan here"?
You aren't "for real" are you!
You should bet against other teams you fool.
And while your at it, take the "OZ" out from your freaky name and stick with
the "Duh", dummy.

There is such a thing as hedging. If this guy wins he is smart and if he
loses he is "paying" to see the White Sox play the Red Sox in the ALCS.

The man CLEARLY made the 'heart and head' distinction. You may want your
team to win, but that doesn't mean that you are willing to bet on it.

As an Ohio State grad, I wanted them to win the National Championship last
year. But knowing full well that truly didn't belong there, I certainly
wasn't going to throw my money down on them.

No, I'm saying you will simply win more money betting against the
Bears, Cubs & Sox in big games. It's a fact, so why not make some
money off it?

I came in to state(not gloat) I bet before the series started, anyone
can post after the series is over saying they knew the Sox would
lose. And if the Sox, won, well yeah I would be happy, that's why I
bet on the low end. If I lose, no biggie on my bankroll.

Nope, we're called realists.

On the plus side, at least we aren't Lions fans!

Geesh, am I talking to Cub fans here? I had to put $90 (9/5 odds) to
win $50. Now if the person that was in Vegas last week was more of
a bettor I would have had them go to a casino where the odds would
have been a bit less (but not much) on Tampa Bay. Results are the
same either way.

So I'm up $50, you're up nothing. Yep, I'm real stupid.

Assuming Bahston gets in, should be a very good series coming up.

1 more good lefty on the ChiSox and we had a chance. So be it.

Go Tampa, and yes ChiSox fans I rather see the team that beat us win
the World Series. IMHO, better to lose to the champs than the
runner up.
