View Full Version : Lee Evans gets a 4-year contract extension!!
Bender 10-03-2008, 12:24 AM ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Receiver Lee Evans signed a four-year contract
extension worth $37.25 million on Thursday in a deal that prevents the
Buffalo Bills' star from becoming a free agent after this season.
Evans, who is guaranteed to make $18.25 million in the new deal that
runs through 2012, earned a significant raise over the base salary of
$2.25 million he'll make this season, the final year of the rookie
contract he signed after the Bills selected him 13th overall in the 2004
draft out Wisconsin.
Re-signing Evans was considered the Bills' top priority this year, and
negotiations began in April.
Evans had also expressed a desire to remain in Buffalo, where he has
emerged as the team's top offensive player.
"I know he's very pleased to have this behind him and be a member of the
Bills for five more years," Evans' agent Ben Dogra told The Associated
Press.

This should tell Jason Peters something.Play out your contract then
get Paid.Lee Evans did it the right way.Other then Peters we have
most of our key young players under contract for a couple of years.
The front office has done a good job signing guys over the past few
years. With extra money to make key pick ups in the offseason.

But Evans hasn't done crap in the last year and four weeks!
He had a great rookie year and then fizzled out.
Hopefully he can regain the numbers he put up in 2006.

He has 332 yards after 4 games. He is on pace for a 1300 yard
season.Yes he only has one TD but he is setting up scores.
I think he has played well with no real other WR treat on the team.
He has a young QB.They havn't even had a chance to play 16
games together.
Myself I would have loved to see us wait and try to sign a guy
like Antwan Boldin in the offeseason. But a guy like Boldin is
going to take alot more money then Evans. Also more like a 7
year contract,rather then a 4 year contract.Which is better
because in 4 yrs if he sucks we can just let him go.With no
cap hit.I don't think any other WR on the FA market next year
(other then Boldin)is better then Evans.
If Hardy comes around and/or we get a receiving TE.We will
really get to see what Evans can do.
