The Rose Award goes to Jim Thome of the Chicago White Sox, who went
one-for-three with one RBI and scored one run in a 1-0 win over the
Minnesota Twins.
Thome's home run and a Griffey-to-Pierzynski double play wrapped it up.

Now that's just plain strange. A guy gets the Rose Award for going 1-
for-3? Is that what Rose was famous for? Or is it because he hit a
home run? Because Rose is sort of famous for almost never doing
that. Besides, Thome seems like a pretty decent guy, again totally
unlike Mr. Rose, and I have never heard of anyone wishing to see Thome
under a lifetime ban from the game. So I can't really see how Thome
gets a Rose Award. Or do you just hate Thome and want to insult him?
Can you explain?

I believe he is on a crusade in which he has to arbitrarily pick
someone from each game to win the "Rose Award" until Pete Rose gets
into the Hall of Fame. In curiosity, I checked out his posts on other
forums, and he can sometimes get nasty if you try to disagree with
him. Most annoying are his posts claiming that whichever famous
person just died the past day or two's last words were "Pete Rose
belongs in the Hall of Fame". Riiiight.

The White Sox actually "pioneered" the lifetime ban!
The fans love to see ANY of their players mentioned (it happens so
rarely), but they would appreciate it if you would change the name to:
The Shoeless Joe Award.
