Yep, Zito had a good year. He's the 2nd winningest pitcher on the team this
year behind Cy Young winner and the best-pitcher-in-the-league Lincecum.

Come to think of it, it's pretty amazing that the Giants won 72 games.
They're just about last in the league in offense (runs scored), and has a
below-average team ERA. The Pads scored just about the same amount of runs,
and had just about the exact same ERA, yet they won only 63 games.

Runs scored
SF 640
SD 637

ERA
SF 4.38
SD 4.41

Wins
SF 72
SD 63

I think just about everyone here predicted the Giants to finish where the
Pads actually finished. Lincecum pretty much single-handedly got those 9
extra wins. :-D

I'll be thinking of Lincecum while I take a look at Jennifer Aniston

I think it demonstrates how great of a manager Bruce Bochy is for being
able to squeeze 72 wins out of this lemon of a team.

The pads as it turns out had significantly more impactful injuries.

So are you saying the Giants should've had a lot fewer wins and the vegas
odds was wrong but they got lucky?

Your statement wouldn't be so comical if the Giants were paying Zito $1.5
million a year.

But they aren't. They are paying way too much $$ for a guy with a losing record
and an ERA over 5.00.

If Zito had somehow managed to have a .500 record, the Giants would have had a
shot at the playoffs.

2nd winningest pitcher? I can't stop laughing at how ridiculous that is.

No, it means that the Vegas odds-makers already knew how great a manager
Bochy is when managing a crappy team and took that into account when
setting the over/under for the Giants.

That means my post got the intended effect. :-)
