View Full Version : Thoughts on cuts?
big normy 09-30-2008, 11:04 PM 16 guys in camp, who will go?
My feeling is, in order of probability:
1. Scalabrine - He probably won't play regardless, so if we eat his
salary it doesn't make much difference - either way we're paying a
guy who doesn't play. Hardly matters if he's paid to be the 15th man or
the 16th man. And while his salary could be ok ballast for a trade,
it's not so big that it's all that useful. But if we really want to
keep him as a good locker room guy and as a serviceable
(Perk,KG,POB,BBD,Powe...) emergency 6th big man, maybe then we cut...
2. Gabe Pruitt - sure he seems like an OK prospect, but it might not be
worth carrying a replaceable combo guard developmental prospect at the
expense of a veteran who could actually contribute. But, if he really
shows something, then we cut...
3. Sam Cassell - If he looks as bad as he did at times last year, or
Pruitt looks capable as the 3rd PG, Sam could go. Or..
4. Darius Miles - If his health doesn't cooperate, then he could make
all this discussion moot. I kind of think he will contribute though.
Say...does he take up a roster spot during his suspension? I remember
Artest and people like that not counting during suspensions. We may
not need to cut anyone until partway into the season if that's the case.

Sam only gets cut if they can find another veteran backup PG. Darius will
probably get a shot just because of his natural physical abilities. I agree
with you on Scal. Pruitt will have to show something and do so quickly. I
think they'll give him a shot also. Of the guys above, I'd cut Scalabrine
first, Miles second.

I think you're right about that. While I'm pondering that, I think
I'll take a look at Jennifer Aniston sunbathing topless:
