I'd always used Forte Agent and my ISP. After stopping posting late
last year my computer died in January (a week after the warranty
expired). I immediately got a new computer of course, but didn't
install a news reader until this weekend (a free trial of the latest
version of Agent).
IIRC, Forte's basic news access is about $3, not too bad I guess - not
as good as free, but very good access for text usenet groups. They do
have a free one month trial, to see if it is worth it for you. There
undoubtedly are other, cheaper options, of course, probably more
erratic in terms of getting the posts as quickly and consistently as
possible.
