Was there more to this meteorological theory? Inversion layers leading
to poor air quality, triggering a choking reflex? Elevated temperatures
relieved by wild but localized whirlwind phenomena guaranteed to keep
you ice cold?

I heard Miller on the radio today saying that Rowand's drive in the 5th
was yet another example of a well-struck ball off his bat finding the
deepest part of left-center for an out. But I don't remember that
happening much lately at all, especially with runners on 3rd and less
than two out.

Let's ponder that while looking at Anna Friel, shown here walking
around topless by the pool:

The reason Aaron Rowand amassed the astounding total of one lousy RBI
in the whole month of September is that he pulled a suck muscle,
probably the same damn one that's troubled him the whole season ...
but which is a great excuse when his batting average goes south.

He had a month that made giants fan pine for Pedro Feliz.

Let him go and join Pedro. He'll be happier, the fans will be happier
and his replacement will be happier.

Who would take him and his $12 million a year for the next 4 years ?
We better get used to him batting 7th behind Sandoval, Lewis, Posey,
etc. for a long time to come.

Krukow's playing with us again. He knows this is bullcrap. He's trying to
keep himself and the fans entertained by tossing out bullcrap. He ain't
the first to do so.

Maybe lenticular clouds over Mt. Shasta aligned with some astral vibes
somewhere and messed with Rowland's aura?

We all know that Krukow sees the world through rose colored glasses. Wish
I could. On the post game show after the last game, everybody was
cautiously optimistic (hey, we weren't as bad as we thought, and maybe we
found a few prospects in the rough) but leave it to Mike. We now,
according to him, don't have to go through a lengthy rebuilding process,
because we already have most of the pieces in place.

I love his (sometimes grating) optimism, but it is not usually based on
fact. I don't think he's a homer because he's paid to be - I think he
really is what he seems to be - a fan with rose colored spectacles. At
least he is honest, even if he doesn't see all the facts, and I can
respect him for that. I also respect his enthusiasm for the game. Thank
God for Kuip, who keeps him on an even keel, though even Kuip averts his
eyes when Kruk is going off on one of his legendary prattles.

I now see why he stayed out of coaching. Even he knew that he could not
be tough enough on players to be an effective coach.

After listening to the dry, boring White Sox and Tigers announcers today,
I'll take Kruk (and Kuip) any time.

Say, that's not a bad spot for him. Sandoval, Lewis and Posey could
get a lot done before Rowand comes up and pulls another suck muscle.

Unfortunately, there are more big 0's at the end of Rowand's contract than
in the photo.
