how many giants tonight took swings at pitches not even close to the plate.
Ishikawa in one at bat struck out on 3 pitches, not one of the pitches
close. So did Sandoval, however Sandoval often still gets hits. Rowand is
worse than Feliz when it comes to swinging at bad pitches. I think the guy
has one RBI in the last month, and has had numerous opportunities. This
team needs some guys who can get on base. A few obp guys. Can't just be a
team of hackers. The walk differential in both directions is enough to
pick up multiple games, however it wont be easy. The giants, even with
their crappy pen, did a great job in one run games. I guess that may be
partly due to the fact that it was hard for them to score enough runs to win
by much more than one run.

Excellent question. Most of the time, swinging at a pitch that isn't a
strike is a mistake. These are professional ball players and like
professional umpires, they should be able to make that judgment correctly
100% of the time. They must be conspiring to lose! They are certainly not at
the level necessary to play this game. Then again, neither would the hitters
from any team but that is beside the point. No, no, that is the point.
