NY Giants:

Probably a good time to post rules
again, just go ahead and clip em in the reply..
Thanks

Predictions must be posted before
game time to be valid, I will verify
that I have downloaded all the
predictions each week shortly after
the start of each game.

Those posted after I download will
not be considered.

Confusing duplicate nicks will be
ignored, I will TRY to figure out
who is who, but not indefinitely.

Please pick a nick and stick with
it, at least for the contest.
-----
The default pick experiment is over.
No more default pick.
**I will continue to take "advance
picks" posted when people think they
may be away from their equipment for
a week or 2**.
-----
One pick per person per game, yes you
can change it, but please do not give
me "if so and so plays it's this, if
so and so starts, it's that" If such
conditions are important to your
pick, make your pick at the last
minute or change it as circumstances
change.
-----
PLEASE - PLEASE - PLEASE
Use the prediction thread ONLY to make
predictions.. Nothing makes this harder
than having 58 messages about all sorts
of other thing scattered throughout a
weekly thread, especially if I need to
go back and re-do a week because I may
have made an error for that week.
(A not altogether infrequent occurrence)
-----
Results will be posted as soon as I
am able produce them, normally this
is within a few hours of the conclusion
of the game, however my personal life
will at times get in the way and the
results may not be posted until the
following day. This also changes for
the bye week.
-----
The scoring is based on the following
parameters:
SOME OF THIS IS CHANGED FROM PREVIOUS
YEARS:
-----
Picking the winning team (2 pts)
1 Pt each for:
Exact (or closest to)Seattle Score
Exact (or closest to)Opponent Score
-----
The next thing is new, at least to
my doing this.
It is something Don used to go with.
5pts for (correctly) picking a TIE
10pts for having a CORRECT TIE SCORE
This is in addition to any points,
total points exact score, spread etc
points you may get!
It is based on a tie Score at the end
of the game, not the end of regulation!
That means that correctly picking a
correct tie score will result in 10pts
plus 1 for closest to Seahawk score
plus 1 for closest to Opp score,
plus 1 for total points,
plus 1 for spread,
plus 1 for closest to actual result.
That's a total of 15 points sports fans!!
Unless you are more than 15 points
behind the leader you ALWAYS have a
shot to win the thing.
-----
**IF** you have the winner **AND**
Exact (or closest to)spread (1pt)
Total (or closest to)points (1pt)
Closest to actual score (1pt)
This last will be an arbitrary and
assigned point, usually only one
person gets this point.
This means SOMEBODY will get a point
if they pick a tie and the game ends
in a tie, even if they pick say 1-1
and the game finishes 55-55, and that
over everybody else picking either
54-55, 55-56 etc. On the other hand,
if 20 people pick a tie, and the game
ends in a tie, nobody will get a
closest to point.
This will reflect a small reward
for having the right sense about a
game.
I will (normally) only give out ONE
of these awards per week and many
weeks I will not give out any!
(if 3 or more folks get the exact
score, likely I will NOT give anybody
the closest to award.)
Maximum (per week) possible 7pts for
exact score.
16 games x 7 pts is 112.
(not including ties)
(More if you (correctly) pick a tie
or 2...)

I'm not doing any good anyway. I'm hoping the fates will be against me again
and Seattle will win. You know, lose the battle, win the war kind of stuff.

Here is how I see the game in a vacuum.
Seattle: 16
NY Giants: 21

Here is how I see it as a home game.
Seattle: 20
NY Giants: 17

Here is my offical contribution to the scoring contest, which is @NYG.
Seattle: 13
NY Giants: 27

I hate to predict a loss... but the Defense has been spotty this year
and for the last few years the Seahawks consistently can't win on the
road... to the tune of almost embarrassing levels, not in points
allowed, but in how consistently they can't win road games.

Road records:
2007 3-5
2006 4-4

Let's also not forget the 0 for everything road playoff record.

The Holmgren era has been a fun ride. One of the few disappointments
has been the team's consistently poor play in 1PM Eastern time road
games. It ain't gonna suddenly change now. Hopefully they will
become a more mentally tough ROAD team under the next regime.

Can't pick against the Hawks, even though I think the return of the WRs will
help, not enough time to get back that great chemistry with Hass. :-(
Nevermind the dreaded East Coast game. double :-(
