Shane did not look right to me at all in that fight and I think the
scorecards were marked a lot closer than they really were. Good for
him to take the guy out at the end but if I were Shane I would
seriously consider hanging up the gloves right now. Mayorga was a
difficult opponent and he bullied Shane in much of the fight. Not
pretty to watch but effective for him and Shane could not get his jab
going at all. Saying that Mosely stayed with him and the finish was
excellent and not something many will forget in a long time.

The strength of Mosely's corner in the person of his father Jack, who
was a calming force while providing the things Shane had to do to get
beyond Mayorga's bluster and bluff. At the conclusion of the bout, the
punch stats said it all.
Yesterday, I had breakfast with Lou Filippo, former lighweight fighter
and renown referee/ring official. He opined, Sugar Shane Mosely is a
very intelligent, soundly trained boxer who dominated Mayorga. Mosely
comes to any fight in top condition, prepared and able to adapt.
I agreed!
