D.Flynn 09-27-2008, 05:12 AM HBO has a good double- header this Saturday: Mosley vs Mayorga and
Steve Forbes-Andre Berto.
Berto's people probably picked Forbes because of his feather fists.
However, he has an excellent chin and stamina and since this is a 12
rounder I'll pick Forbes in an upset.
The consensus here at rsb seems to be that Berto is an overrated
prospect who won't go very far and I agree.
I'm a lot more reluctant to pick an upset in the main event where
Mosley is a 9-1 favorite. Mayorga pointed out that since speed is the
first thing to go (and power the last) in an aging fighter that gives
him the edge over the 37 year old Mosley.
Then again, Mosley didn't exactly look shot against Cotto.

I disagree that he is overrated. I just think he's moved up
too fast for the amount of time he's been pro.

I'd agree with that as well. Forbes is well past his use by date yet
still has some good skills. He'll be a stern test for Berto but I
just can't see Forbes getting the better of Berto.

What is Steve Forbes gonna use to hurt Berto. Forbes' only advantage
(ever so slight) is hand speed. Berto by TKO 8th round.

I don't think Forbes will be faster than Berto. IMO, Forbes has a better
defense is more skilled than Berto, while Berto has speed and power going
for him.
We'll see who's faster.

Mel, I've been very critical of Berto in the past, particularly for
his leaky defense.
Still, I have to give him credit for what was his most impressive
performance so far against Forbes.
I assumed Berto, like many other heavy-handed punchers, would grow
weary and fade in the late rounds and I was wrong.
I tip my hat to your friend.

He seemed to have pulled more of himself together than in past
fights.

If nothing else, he is focused - intensly so.
