Congratulations to Larry (Chipper) Jones, in winning the 2008 NL Batting
Title.
In almost any other year, Albert Pujols would have won with his (present)
..353 by a comfortable margin with but 3 games to play, but Chipper has had
an outstanding batting year despite plagued with injury that limited him to
[presently] only 125 G and 438 AB).
Albert gave it the Ol' College Try in briefly passing him, but went into an
extremely rare 2-for-23 funk that destroyed his chance of a second NL
Batting Title [#1 in 2003 with .359].
Chipper has probably also clinched the NL OBA Title.
However, Albert *has won* the NL SLG Title by a huge margin over [#2] fellow
Cardinal, Ryan Ludwick [.585]! C. Jones is third at .575 and L. Berkman is
fourth at .572 so it's still possible Berkman *could* jump into second place
with big games in his last three.
C. Jones .365 / .469 / 575 (125 G 438 AB 160 H) [#3 .575 SLG]
A. Pujols .353 / .458 / .641 (145 G 515 AB 182 H)
