View Full Version : Just checking in.....
david@placeforhomes.com 09-24-2008, 01:26 PM Thought I would stop in to say 'HELLO' to whomever is still posting on
the O's newsgroup.
Last place....28 games back. OUCH!
And how about those Tampa Bay Rays???
Imagine! A shortstop with only 1 homerun....and they go from last to
first!
Ah....those were the days when we argued over Mike Bordick. LOL!
Hope everybody is healthy and finding good fortune. It's been a long
time.

well, the group has about as much action as a Muslim televangelist in Alabama.
It would help to have a living baseball team to chat about ... I do not
recognize the roster at all. this is not the change we hoped for. ...
O's pitching leads the majors in walks to the DL ---
Team ran out of gas in June, fans reward them by staying away ...
Oh well, there's always alt.politics
Cheers

There's still a few of us here, making sure the lawn is mowed, keeping the
place nice...
Glad to hear that you're still with us, I got a little concerned with the
bulk of the political season upon us and no word from ya...

LOL! Nice to see you still here, Mitch. And yes....politics seems to
be much more interesting.
Especially now that the Looney Left has destroyed yet more
institutions. (Fannie and Freddie). LOL! {{{ducks}}}

Hey Slidge! How are you?
Good to see you're still here guarding the place.
Hope you're not voting for Obama. ;^) God help us all!

Hey, David, nice to see you again ;-) Ouch isn't strong enough, but I
can't think of a word that is ;-/ For ten years we could count on
Tampa Bay to keep us out of last place, *now* look what's happened!
And for years, teams got along (and won championships) with shortstops
with Bordick-like numbers, but then along came a Baltimore legend that
changed what people expected from shortstops. I guess it's nice to see
that it's still possible without having someone who's a bad imitation
of Cal at short (since we have no one even *close* to that caliber),
but it still remains true that, now a days, a Bordick will lose you
more championships than he will win you ;-)
I hope you're doing well, too, and that you'll drop in more often, the
place has gotten eerily quiet without you around to get us all "het
up" ;-)

Hey ald! Glad to see you're still checking in here.
Wow....so much time and so many years have passed....since the 'wire
to wire' season back in 97.
Anybody heard from Nieporent? What? Now that he may have a corner
office, he doesn't post anymore? LOL!

Only every day, at least checking the Watch filter, might be a week or
more before I check unwatched threads.

Or since any winning season, which was what, the next year?

I don't believe I've seen a post from him, or any of the other
die-hard Statheads, all season.

I think most of them have abandoned Usenet and are hanging around in
webforums now.
