Have you looked at the list of the honored former (and even current) A's for
the 40th anniversary team tribute choices? See if you agree. The glaring
omission is Jose Canseco with the nod to Dave Kingman. Maybe someone here
knows how to find out how many AB's Jose had as DH vs RF.

1B - Mark McGwire (not likely attending the ceremony on Sunday - if he was a
man he would appear)

2B - Mark Ellis (good choice, will have surgery, won't attend)

SS - Campy (==Beep beep! 'nuff said! )

3B - Carney Lansford (My favorite too, but Capt Sal Bando was king '68 - mid
70's)

OF - Rickey Henderson

OF - Reggie Jackson

OF - Joe Rudi (I'm impressed with this choice. A's fans know their A's!
Though I'm surprised Dave Henderson didn't get it because he was much later
and a Bash Bro)

C - Terry Steinbach

P - Dave Stewart

Closer - Eck

DH - Dave Kingman (I realize that Canseco played RF, but he was also a DH
often if I recall correctly. Kingman was probably the right choice.)

Manager - Tony LaRussa (the guy that walked away and took alot of the
elements of the team with him.... My choice would have been Dick Williams,
or maybe even Jackie Moore over LaRussa)
