View Full Version : Red Sox Fans

I don't mind the true Bostonian Red Sox fans coming up here to follow their
team. That's cool. But when I see these knobs from Mississauga and Oshawa
dressed up in Red Sox gear it makes me nauseous.

I saw couples all over the place downtown today hand in hand who probably
had their first date and saw Fever Pitch, suddenly cheering on Kevin
Youkilis and wearing Red Sox World Series hats coupled with Mississauga Ice
Dogs hockey pullovers.

It's really gay. I still maintain it was cool to be a Red Sox fan before
2004. Now every Tom Dick and Warren is firing around wearing Ortiz jerseys.

Red Sox Nation will assimilate you. Don't like it? Get your team to
finish higher than 4th, and maybe you'll have some fans, too...

There's a difference between "gay" and "ghey."

Swell. Now we have crossposting Toronto trolls. TORONTO! Now them's some
large ones.

Get over yourselves...you have a Red Sox fan running your organization (not
too well these days apparently...but when you work in Loserville and have
little cash...), who didn't have the guts to run a big time operation like
the Red Sox...well what do you expect? I guess he's just practicing with
the Jays...for when he gets a *real* big league club to run.

If you don't like it...don't bring this sorry ass trash talk into a major
league newsgroup. Have a nice day...oh...and "wait'll next year". Ha! <g>

Settle down, Dano. I went to every Red Sox game in Toronto from 1986 -
2004, and I assure you there were MANY Red Sox fans at those games.
During the Jays' lean years (all but 92-93?), Sox fans frequently
outnumbered Jays fans.

Bundo's problem is that he ignore the Jays' *fans* who discovered
baseball when the Jays were winning WS. Trust me, many of those *fans*
have gone back to cheering the Leafs' futility.

Wait a moment. If you say he "proves he is an idiot" and he "provides

if he proves he is an idiot, then it is a done deal and no demo is

Sorry you don't like my historical example. If I remember correctly,
Jays' fans, REAL baseball fans, numbered about eleven until '92.

But then, there's always the Leafs, right?

The truth often does . . . btw I'm seeing far too much of your
foolishness on usenet lately. No good for your self-esteem, running
your face on here all the time . . . I think you should probably see a
priest and ask him to hear your confession. And try to cut down on the
self-abuse. You are surely on the road to hell!

I wouldn't worry, Gnork.

As I said, I attended EVERY Red Sox game in Toronto from '86-'04. Trust
me. Except for '92-'94, Sox fans outnumbered Jays fans everywhere but in
the bleacher seats (both in Ex Park and Skydome).

Jays fans were mainly new arrivals, and their knowledge of baseball was
sketchy. Of baseball history, practically non-existent. They got better.
I used someone's season seats for seven years, and spoke with many
diverse Toronto fans. I'd say 60% were real baseball fans; 75% of those
'knew' baseball. Of them all, I'd say 15% were fans BEFORE the Jays came
into the league.

I'm not damning them, I just found the original post about 'it's
suddenly cool to be a Sox fan' post about par for the course from a Jays
fan.
