View Full Version : A GREAT Honor!
Jeffrey Alsip 09-18-2008, 05:08 AM It appears that the Chicago Cubs will be able to clinch the NL
Central, while beating the Cardinals!
This is a great honor for St. Louis, as their team actually gets to be
seen on the same TV screen with the Great Chicago Cubs.
It's a win-win situation!
Jacky Caesar 09-18-2008, 06:02 AM No wonder we hate you Chi-Town peanuts.
What does it feel like to be named officially as Planet Earth's most
unsuccessful Professional Sports Team? You beat out some real failures to
take the title. So who says the Cubs never win anything?
Now that's embarrassing!

And what are *you* doing in a Cardinals' ng, if not the same?

Only because the Brewers had such a huge collapse. They (Brewers) did
the right thing by canning their manager. Ownership mortaged some of
the future and went for it all this year, opening the purse strings
for Sabathia, the best pitcher in baseball. Despite the great
acquisition, the manager still couldn't catch the floundering Cubs.
We were by far the best division in baseball for much of the season,
but I doubt we're still the best with three teams having horrible
Septembers.
The Cubs are probably going to lose in the first round of the
playoffs.

The Cubs won their 92nd game today, to tie for the best record in
Baseball. It seems clear that you have no idea what "floundering"
means, and it is not my job to enlightening the less educate...you can
buy a dictionary at any local book store.
As far as how the Cubs do in the Playoffs, that is not your concern.
Your only concern is the fact that the "Machine", and all of the rest
of the team, will be watching the Playoffs on television...just like
you.

Very doubtful. At the end of the day, you'll still have to live with
the fact that you root for the Cubs while we have the Cardinals. Try
using a little class. Remember the adage, "act like you've been there
before..." oh, wait, nevermind.

Like that's a bad thing? I observe many Cardinal fans who are WAYYYYY
too serious with no sense of humor and are obsessed about hating the Cubs
and an angry bunch and get all pissed off and angry when the Cardinals lose.
World series or no series, being a Cub fan is fun. I've been to numerous
games at Wrigley and at Busch. Sorry but there's no comparison. Wrigley
is a picnic, good time and a blast. Busch is corporate product mentality
with many robots in the stands. It's just not really all that fun watching
a Cards game at Busch.
By the way, the Cubs lead the series in head to head match up against the
Cardinals since the beginning of time.

So because the Cardinals have been the world series recently, you're
implying that makes you a better human being than any Cub fan. That's some
logic there. Also, were you actually out there on the playing field
helping the Cardinals win the world series in '06? As far as your "try
using a little class" you're saying is that the Cardinal fans who continue
to send Don Dekinger death threats years after his 1985 call are "classy"
since you're lumping ALL Cardinal fans into the class category. Nothing
like unjustly patting yourself on the back when you tout all of this "class"
that only Cardinal fans are capable of :-P

I too have attended games at Wrigley. My two main memories are that
once, a group of 25+ year olds cussed out my 13 year old niece for
wearing a Cardinal hat while she went to buy a soda, to the point
several police intervened and escorted these die-hard Cub fans to the
street. The other memory I have is attending a game (before Wrigley
was considered a baseballl park shrine where non-fans and casual fans
now attend games as if they were going to the Sears Tower), and a
group of Chicago fans (or so I assume since they donned the hats and
jerseys) screaming at the top of their lungs what an opposing pitcher
could do with himself, his family and his mother.

have more class and a better baseball history than the Cubs could ever
hope to.

I have similar memories at Busch. Watching a Cub fan get cheese nachoes
thrown at his jersey by some Cardinal fans in the back who wanted to pick a
fight with him. Cub fan had his girlfriend with him and did not do
anything wrong :-(
Watching 2 Cub fans walking to the turn styles with 4 Cardinal fans
surrounding them shouting obscenities and wanting to pick a fight with the 2
Cub fans.
I also remember watching the playoff between the Dodgers and the Cardinals
at Busch when the Cardinal fan tossed a drink at Sax as he was coming into
the dugout. I also have memories of attending the Cub / Cardinal game a
day after Alou had a problem with Cardinal fans flipping him off in left
field and making racial slurs at him. In the game I was at, I had to
listen to some Cardinal fans shouting latino racial slurs at Alou.
There's more but I don't care to list it because Cardinal fans will never
want to believe it and will always write it off as lies believing they're
incapable of atrocities like this. They live in their own world and have
tried to convince themselves that everything good is what a Cardinal fan is
and everything bad is what a Cub fan is.
Keep patting yourself on the back and building yourself up if that makes you
feel any better or "classier".

Don Dekinger. Still gets hate/death threats from Cardinal fans for his
call back in 1985. Let's not forget Gary Templeton who got
heckled/verbally abused by Cardinal fans. No doubt, a class act by the
fans!!! :-)

And he's obviously very upset about it as evidenced by this:
"More than 20 years after the fateful events in Kansas City in October
1985, Denkinger has regularly appeared at sports memorabilia shows
(including ones in St. Louis) willing to autograph photos depicting
"The Call." Denkinger even owns a painting featuring himself, Todd
Worrell, and Jorge Orta involved in the play, claiming that he keeps
it to remind himself that no one is perfect and everyone makes
mistakes. In September 2005, he was a guest speaker at a 20th
anniversary dinner celebrating the Cardinals' 1985 team, benefiting
the Whitey Herzog Youth Foundation."
Now, ask Steve Bartman if he would feel safe doing the same for
Chicago Cubs fans?
