DALLAS (AP) - The battered reputation of Josh Howard took
another hit this week when an online video surfaced showing the
Dallas Mavericks forward disrespecting the national anthem.

In a video posted on YouTube, Howard is shown on a football
field at a charity flag football game. As the national anthem
plays in the background, Howard approaches a camera and says:
"'The Star Spangled Banner' is going on right now. I don't even
celebrate that (expletive). I'm black."

Howard's agent, Jeff Schwartz, did not immediately return a
phone call seeking comment. Donnie Nelson, the Mavericks'
president of basketball operations, directed questions to team
owner Mark Cuban, who in an e-mail declined to comment.

The incident is the latest off-court problem for Howard, a fifth-
year pro from Wake Forest who averaged 19.9 points and seven
rebounds last season. He was arrested in July when police said
he was drag racing at 94 mph in a 55 zone. A court appearance
was scheduled for next week.

Howard was criticized last season for saying in a radio
interview during a first-round playoff series against New
Orleans that he occasionally smokes marijuana. Later that same
series, he angered coach Avery Johnson by throwing himself a
birthday bash after a Game 4 loss to the Hornets.

This is the type of racist African American who goes ballistic whenever he
doesn't get his way in life and resorts to the only thing he has ever been
taught in life by his equally racist parents... and that is that anything
that is percieved as being “white” is suspect and not worthy of consideraton.
This idiot is blatant with his racism and the only reason why it continues is
because there are no public white people in the NBA, players included or even
non-racist blacks that wiill call him out on it. It’s time that his peers
stand up and do the right thing and publically admonish this animal.

Can African Americans be racist??? I thought racism comes from power
over another less fortunate individual. For examples whites over
blacks for centuries because of slavery... How can a black person be
racist if this is by nature the definition. Black people have nor
never had any power over white people to do what the blacks want them
to do. Hence Blacks can't be racist, however they can surely not like
their white counterparts.

These niggers make me sick. They can put a ball through a hoop as well
as any trained dog, but they contribute nothing to society. How many
black Nobel prizes are out there? martin luther coon has one, for what
i'll never know. All he did was soak up a bullet. How many cures for
major diseases have been formulated by spades? Will Obama continue
Americas racist policies? After all, affirmative action is a racist
policy. Any system that gives preference because of black skin color
is racist. Blacks are given points because of skin color. If this was
a white policy, we would have the Watts riots all over again.

Under the latest definition of everybody making up their own definitions,
you can call yourself anything that you want.

A true story (abridged, as I remember.) A six foot tall woman, blonde,
with blue eyes, and fair skin, applied to a college in the category of
"African-American," as they had less strict admissions in that category.
She was asked how she could be an African-American. She said that she was
born in South Africa, emigrated to the United States, became a citizen, and
so she met every definition of being an African-American. She was told that
they did not actually mean African-American, they meant black. Only black
persons could apply.

So anybody can call themselves anything they want.

You seem to have made up the definition of second-generation Holocaust
survivor, even though there was only the original Holocaust survivors, much
like there was only the original generation of slaves who could properly be
called African-Americans. There was probably no Jewish state when you were
born, so like my Jewish grandfather, who escaped, would have to say that you
are a German-American. But he would have hated that, so insisted that
everyone speak English, and changed the family name, so that we are all
Americans, period.

As far as African-American goes, I grew up with black people who never heard
of the term, and only wanted to be Americans, like everyone else. I grew up
with jazz people, even met Duke Ellington once. Read his biography, or that
of Louis Armstrong, a good friend of Turk Murphy, who arranged "Mack the
Knife" just for him, suggested by Lotte Lenya. They never thought of
themselves as separate people. When Louis appeared, with Turk, in San
Francisco, or even with the Jim Cullum jazz band, in San Antonio, Texas, no
one even thought definitions. The definition GREAT! comes to mind, but they
lived to play, and I have a lot of the recordings, and some pics, and not a
single person thought about what anyone was called.

But, I guess, anyone can call themselves anything that they want. Okay with
me. I'm cool. I'm also old, so I've seen this before.

Can African Americans or Blacks be racist??? I thought racism comes
from power
over another less fortunate individual. For examples whites over
blacks for centuries because of slavery... How can a black person be
racist if this is by nature the definition. Black people have nor
