Earlier this season, you asked for predictions of Miguel Cabrera's final HR
and RBI numbers for the season, and you said you would file these away for
future reference. I think it's about time to get those out, and see how
right I was...

Yeah, Nanthan blew ANOTHER save. That guy is just living on borrowed
time. He's been so lucky. Time for the Twins to find a real closer.

Fat lot of good it did the Tigers (pardon the pun). ;-)

As Likely Story said....Nathan won the "Todd Jones award" with his
recent shitty pitching. LOL

alright then, I didn't save the actual post, because you implied (out of
skepticism) that you would, but, iirc, I said at least 35 HRs and 120 RBI.
With 11 or 12 games left (depending on whether they have to make up the
Chicago rainout), he is only two short of my prediction in each category.

And if I recall correctly, the original question was 'what would YOU
consider a successful season for Cabrera?'.

So, by your definition Cabrera had a successful individual effort this
season....and I would agree with that. But in the overall picture, he
still did very little to make the Tigers a better team. In fact, I'd
say his poor fielding skills might detract a little from his success
at the plate.

Yes, you were right...his individual numbers were pretty
decent.

I said I didn't think he was that good or would be a big addition
for the Tigers.

He had good individual batting stats, but he still didn't do much
for the team overall, IMO. So I was only half right.

Your posts concerning Miguel Cabrera's fielding are like John McCain
speeches...full of lies and half truths.

If you'd actually look at the stats, you 'd find that among MLB first
basemen, Miguel is ranked #10 in fielding. Twin Justin Morneau is
ranked just above Miguel at #7.

You're just jealous you don't have a player of his caliber on the
sinking (or is that stinking?) Twins.

I find it a bit of a laugh that the Twins new ballpark will be named
after one of the largest discount retailers in the country given the
Twins are a discount ball club. Wear that Target well.

No thanks, I don't want that fat SOB on my favorite team. Especially
not with his ridiculous price tag.

And it's kind of funny that the Tigers stadium is named after a bank
that offers high interest loans...because the Tigers will sure
need some to keep paying that huge payroll (without getting any
real return on their investment in the process). ;-)

Really? Then you must not want your team to win. Ooops...they just
got blown out by the Rays! MC has 36 home runs and 125 RBIs so far
this season. That's better than ARods 101 RBIs and 35 HR and cheaper
too.

"I can't say enough good things about him," manager Jim Leyland said
before the Indians game last night speaking of MC.

Not only that, but as the season has progressed, it's become clear the
Tigers didn't give up anything in the six-for-one trade with the
Marlins that would have helped them this season because none of the
six substantially helped.

The supposed gem of the deal for the Marlins was Cameron Maybin, who
might still prove valuable and judging by the consecutive four-hit
games he had for the Marlins obviously has potential but he's had only
11 major league at-bats for the Marlins this season.

In essence, the one-year scorecard on the trade shows it's been nearly
a shutout huge numbers for Cabrera, nothing of value so far for the
Marlins.

But hey if you're happy with the Target priced team and players the
Twins have, so be it.
