View Full Version : Holy crap coach, batman!
Is there anyone else that thinks that Huard is just fine, but that Herm
made the impulsive decision that Thigpen was the way to go, and that
turned out poorly, so they are using a "oh, the 2nd string QB got hurt,
and we had to play this scrappy but unprepared and over matched kid in
his place" excuse?

Oh shock!!! Everybody's bitchin' because Herm started the obviously
inferior QB. Duh!!
Edwards & co. have conceded from day one that JHuard is at least the second
best if not the best QB on the team. He has also stated that Huard is NOT
the QB of KC's future. It may be Croyle and it may be Thigpen, but it ain't
Huard. Damon''s #2 because he's far better equipped to come in after an
injury with little/no prep and complete the game as safely as possible.
Given a week's prep, it's gonna be one of the young guys. He starts Huard
today and he might as well cut Thigpen and declare the great rebuilding
movement over. Yeah, they might win a few more games with Huard at QB
instead if Thigpen or Croyle, but they're still below .500 and next year
they're 2-14.
Da Blue Guy 09-15-2008, 07:26 AM Totally agree. Starting Huard is a waste of time, and hopefully won't
happen again this year, unless forced to by injury. It's not like Huard
was stellar in his short time in there anyway, and his "bomb" to
Charles was pathetic, about 10 yards short. He now has 2 INTS in less
than 20 attempts, I believe, and supposedly his strength was not turning
it over. Playing him accomplishes nothing for this team. Thigpen
isn't ready to play, but playing him is the only way to work on that,
and he did show some growth in the game. Some, not much. I hope Croyle
comes back soon, but until he does, Thigpen should be the guy, and not a
QB shuttle game. I don't mind sticking the gimmik little guy in for a
few plays, but Thigpen should be the QB next week, unless Croyle is
ready.

Thigpen can't win any games, and supposedly, anyway, the object is still to
win games, something that is lost on Edwards. Thigpen has a long way to go
and nobody to learn from. It's like two virgins trying to have sex. If
Croyle can't play any more than he has in the past, its time to chuck the
whole mess.
OTOH, if this crap keeps up you can bet we will have the worst record in the
NFL and we can draft the Missouri QB after he wins the Heisman. Maybe by
next year there will be more than 8 guys on the team who have a clue.

RDOGuy 09-16-2008, 04:00 PM Bill is right. Huard is #2 because as the most experienced,
consistent QB, he is best prepared to come in off the bench at a
moment's notice. When Croyle was injured, Edwards said that Thigpen
was going to get some playing time, but there's no reason to expect
that it would be any different than the playing time he got in the
preseason... late in the game, when the Chiefs are either way ahead or
way behind.
Thigpen's entry into the Oakland game wasn't an "impulsive decision."
He went in because Huard had been dinged, and there was nobody else.
It's crazy to suggest that the Chiefs invented Huard's injury to cover
themselves. If you really believe that, then I have some tinfoil hats
for sale on eBay that are just your size.
Hagan's entry into the game at QB was, in all probability, part of the
game plan. He's wearing #10, for God's sake! Let's not forget that
Chan Gailey was WR coach at Pittsburgh when Kordell Stewart came into
the league, and was OC when Slash became the starter at QB. If Huard
had remained in the game, Hagan's snaps at QB would be seen for just
what they were... an attempt to throw some unpredictability into the
Chiefs offense. But because they started only a few plays after
Thigpen went in, they gave the appearance of something they weren't.
Huard should be fine this week, and I expect him to start against
Atlanta. Unless its close, we'll probably see Thigpen late in the
game.

And if Thiggy gets injured too, then they are way screwed. But if they put
in Hagans and he gets hurt too, at least we won't see any more of those fool
plays we saw with him last week.

RDOGuy 09-18-2008, 04:13 AM Well... I got it wrong. Edwards announced today that Thigpen will
start against Atlanta on Sunday.
Well... they're rebuilding, all right.

Yep, as they should be. Great move, and the right move for all the
right reasons, for a rebuilding team, by Herm. I am pleasantly
surprised.

Hell why not throw that Ingle Martin guy out there since Herm is
treating this like a preseason tryout.

Given the Chiefs' OL, don't be surprised if you see him soon.

Or.... I heard they are making a sequel to a Charles Bronson movie about
playing Quarterback for the Chiefs...
Death Wish 2008.
