Doug Williams was a quality qb, and won a ring. Randall Cunningham was
legit in Philly, and in 1998, ran the Viking offense to absolute
perfection with accurate passing, read defenses well, and hardly turned
the ball over. Warren Moon out side of fumbling a bunch, threw the
prettiest ball I've ever seen, and was an intelligent qb.
I think the problem with a lot of black qb's is self ego, and dumb
coaching.
Too many black qb's have the mind set that they can tuck and run with
the ball at the drop of a hat. As we all know, that works about one
season, then you become like Michael Vick and get sacked 10 times a
game, or like Culpepper, and get injured and leave the game at 31.
The coaching thing comes to mind because the coaches do the same dumb
shit. "Your black, use your athletic abilities". What?! Put them in the
pocket, make them work, and teach 'em how to read a damn defense.
I have to admit, I don't see very many solid black qb's on an NFL roster
this year. However, The Redskins qb (name escapes me) is young, and
showing major potential. I like the guy in Jacksonville as well. I think
Russell is terrible, we know TJ's terrible, Vince Young isn't terrible
but looking more and more like just an dependable backup.
The main issue at hand from swami was mainly about Tavaris Jackson He
failed for the obvious reasons..where heplayed college ball. I've said
it a million times the qb position has to be played at a high level. You
see guys like Jerry Rice come out of Miss-valley St and do well, but
they are receivers, safeties, corners, etc. Name me even some white qb's
from div 2 schools currently running or have ran an NFL team. I don't
think your going to come up with much. Prove me wong.
TJ never even saw stiff college competition, I honestly don't know what
Chilly and his scouts actually thought TJ would bring to the table.
There is a reason small college or even big college "running qb's"
(scott frost/Neb)( Matt Jones-Ark) play different positions when they
get into the NFL. Even Tim Tebow to me, might actually make a better NFL
tight end when he comes in as opposed to playing qb.
