David Smith 09-10-2008, 03:49 PM Unfortunately Boston 6-12 to 91 wins, but sure is exciting to follow them
now.
Litsch. Halladay, Purcey, Marcum and Burnett -looking solid -winning is
contagious -go Jays

Bundo 09-10-2008, 03:59 PM I agree they probably won't make the playoffs but what a fun young team to
watch with absolutely ridiculous pitching.
90 wins would be massive. I am serious about Cito being considered as
manager of the year now.
He has turned this team. The comment about Cito and crew being hired much
sooner is valid. Jays may be in a playoff position if he was there from the
onset.
Cito bashers have no merit. This man has won World Series titles. There is
interest in Toronto again. We finally have a good pro sports team along with
the Raptors, who I am psyched about this year.
The Leafs, TFC and Argos are just terrible.

David Smith 09-10-2008, 06:50 PM 19 days left 18 games (dbl header in Boston on the 13th)
If they keep the current rotation Haliday 4 starts, Marcum 4 starts, Purcey
4, Burnett 3 Litsch 3.
Most likely they will bump Purcey back a day on the 23rd and pitch Burnett
(on 4 days rest) and then give Burnett the last start of the year (bumping
Purcey again) to give him 4 starts for the last 18 (it would be on 4 days
rest).

Bundo 09-10-2008, 08:15 PM That's 7 games left David (because of the rainout in Fenway). Remember they
play 4 this weekend.

Maybe, but is there really a point? I could see doing that if an actual
playoff spot were at stake.

Assuming that the odd team out is the wild card winner, that would be the
case. A tie in which the second place team would not be the wild card team
would require a playoff game.

But, Tampa Bay is still the first place team, so, if your question referred
to a tie for the wild card spot, I think that would require a playoff game.

Of course, but I think they would do it anyways it try for as many wins as
possible and Burnett would certainly be up for it, we won't know for a
while, but with 7 games against the Bosox could be interesting.

They might. I'm just a bit skeptical in this age of pitch counts. A third
place finish looks like a pretty good bet now. A couple of things I would
not have bet on in March would be the Jays winning more than the Tigers, and
the Rays playing in October.
