View Full Version : Vikings Stadium Question.

A year or two ago, I saw and heard on TV that the Minnesota Vikings were
going to move to a new outdoor stadium soon.

Will the new outdoor stadium be built? And, if it is indeed build, when
will the Vikings play their first home game there?

NERD: The bridge falling down sort of put the damper on that shit.
They are also thinking about moving to LA.

The original plan was to build a new stadium in Blaine, a suburb north
of Minneapolis. Now, the current thinking is that, after 2010, the
Dome will be blown up and replaced with the a new Vikings' stadium.
The reason is that it would be cheaper than building in Blaine, since
all of the infrastructure is already in place. The Vikings would play
in the Gophers' new stadium during construction.

What's wrong with the stadium they have now? It seems like a waste of
money to keep building new stadiums every 25 years or so.

Should've built a new stadium for use by both the Vikings and Gophers,
yet another waste of money.

Forgot to add there are schools older than the stadium.

It is sort of a strange deal. As long as there is one stadium somewhere on
Earth with more luxury boxes than yours it means that yours is no longer any
good. So the taxpayers build a new one for the owner and the owner sells
these luxury boxes to corporations who allowed to call them a business
expense. But the taxpayers do not see the luxury box revenues any more than
they see the inside of the luxury boxes. The team owner keeps the luxury
box revenue but of course he also he to double or even triple the price of
endzone tickets because, you see, it is a brand new stadium. So your taxes
go up and your ticket prices double or triple and guess who wins? You?
Nah, the billionaire who got his free stadium wins.

Anybody who still believes that grade school bullshit about how there is no
royalty in America is not paying attention.

So maybe the NFL should get involve and put a cap on luxury boxes,
revenues on luxury boxes, etc just like they do with team's salary.

But that's not the capitalistic way of doing things. And the NFL is
all about making money.
