Why can't everyone be happy with an opening day win? The Jets should have
been winning 24-14 instead of 20-14 because of Nugent's injury. If that was
the case, all of these criticisms about play calling and prevent defense
would not be relevant since they should have had a ten point lead.
Lets look at the positive.
1) When was the last time the Jets had such a consistent pass rush? Was
it the Sack Exchange?
2) It looks like we have two top notch very young cornerbacks. The last
time the Jets had two good cornerbacks were Johnny Sample and Randy Beverly.
3) One of the reasons for Mangini's strategy was that Pennington cannot
throw the ball longer than 30 yards. The Jets quarterback is BRETT FAVRE.
4) Thomas Jones ran for over 100 yards and had a touchdown. That NEVER
happened last season.
5) Calvin Pace and Chris Jenkins look like the real deal.
6) Brady is done for the season

It's the Jets NG. Might be tough at times, but the alternatives
(Jetsinsider) are far, far worse.

I believe they had a pretty good pass rush in 2004, Ellis and Abraham
had double-digit sacks.
I do agree with you - the pass rush was impressive. I loved the way
the Jets played defense in between Miami's 2 TDs. Pace drew 2
penalties and had a huge sack when it looked Miami was going in for a
TD. I know Thomas clearly isn't a favorite around here, but he did
notch 2 sacks. Ellis was active as well.

It's only 1 game for Lowery, but I really like his style of play.

Jones' performance was a very pleasant surprise.

Great debuts for Pace and Jenkins. The Jets seem to be limiting
Jenkins' snaps - Pouha got a lot of work.

Thomas will need a HUGE year before getting a break in this NG. I
mean, when was the last time a player had 2 SACKS and fans were still
criticizing him?

I'm excited about the D. It think they will get (barring injuries to
key players) really good before the season is over. I'm think Giants
like dominating. Sounds to high of a standard, but they do have the
personnel and scheme to do it.

Love the way he carried the ball today. Love to have a Back who can
punish defenses during the second half.

Saw the same thing. Then again, it was 100 degrees out there. So can't
blame it on him or the coaches.

Good way to start the season! ;-)
