I'll be the first, well maybe not the first, to jump on the bandwagon
blindly and watch him get injured and at 26 after 3 good years. :-P Or
something.

I'm very excited. I've been posting on this newsgroup for 9, almost 10
years now, though I didn't post for four years. Originally I just went
as Jesse (videokid@videokid.com) and posted rarely. If anything I was
known for my irrational worship of Bill Mueller. So when a younger,
potentially better version of Mueller comes along, I'm going to be his
fan!

I hope Sabean realizes that he shouldn't try to get a "power hitting
third baseman"

Pedro Feliz and his 20 home runs were so much better than Mueller...

Sabean is done getting anything for this team. He's a lame duck.

Don't forget Buster Posey as well. Next year should be some kind of
fun and I was on the Posey bandwagon before the draft started.

The Giants have never had a star catcher as long as I can remember,
and looking at Baseball-Reference it seems we never have had one
pretty much.

Posey could be one of the Giants best catchers of all time, or the
best. Unless someone from a long time ago, before the 70s was really
good.

Gillapsie could be good. If he starts next year, and puts up the
numbers Bill Mueller put up in 1997 when he was five years older, he's
probably a future hall of famer if he stays healthy.

That presents a bit of a problem since Sandoval is hitting like
gangbusters and he's a catcher who can play first base. Posey is a
catcher who can play almost any position. What happens with Ishikawa
who also plays first?

You pretty much answered your own question. If Posey and Sandoval are
both on the team, then Ishikawa isn't.

He better learn how to catch or play shortstop. Alternatively, he could
change his name to Randy Winn.

With Posey and Sandoval in the lineup, Ishikawa becomes trade bait or
he heads back down to the minors.

How about Gillaspie at second and Sandoval at third?

Maybe one of them would be good in middle relief.

That would be Posey. He played all nine spots during one game.

Well, we'll see how fast Posey can be ready to play in the majors. He
could be Will Clark or he could be Matt Willliams.

I hope Conor Gillapsie is ready. I guess they weren't really
interested at giving him much of a look. They just wanted to give him
a chance to experience the major leagues. He did get a hit and two
walks, and his OBP is more than double his batting average, but that's
5 at bats.

I would like to see him in 2009 so we can save money and not get a
mediocre third baseman but 2010 is more likely.

Posey probably 2010
