They saved us from watching Jim Thome hit a walk-HR at the bottom of the
15th. While I'm happy to see the Angels going to the playoffs (I know we're
5 Wins from Winning the AL West Divison.) But what's good is that if we
can't beat 2 teams that we may end up facing in the playoffs?

WTF are you talking about? I saw the disaster in all its infamy on KCOP.

I got to see it all in its frustrating ignominy; I thought the
unwritten Cosmic Laws of Baseball were going to play out for the
Angels after Shields came in and AJ got to 2nd leading off in the
bottom of the 10th. S-Rod made an ill-advised try to get AJ The Putz.
He threw it into the Angels' dugout. Mathis _just_ missed blocking it.
So: no outs, winning run on 2nd. Dye hits a smash that eats up B.
Wood. They called it a single. Winning run on 3rd, no outs. Then AJ
gets caught on a bonehead play by Figgy after Shields K'd - IIRC Thome
- on 3 pitches. 2 outs, guy on 1st. Shields gets another slugger to
fly out.

When you get a the winning run on 3rd w/no outs and you don't
capitalize...doesn't it mean the other team wins? I kept watching (and
watching, watching, watching...Angels with a walk and 2 2-out singles
innings 10-15, a major drag...and then Thome ended it w/o mercy with a
huge fly.

Torii Hunter made a couple of beautiful running catches in center that
he somehow made look easy, but they weren't. He's incredible! I'd say
he reminded me of Gary Pettis, but Hunter makes it look easy
sometimes, whereas Pettis had perhaps more of sense of drama...'cuz it
wasnt as easy for him? I dunno. Hunter is just insanely good in
center! Almost freakishly so.
