Davidson is an outstanding businessman and owner. He's worthy of the
Hall of Fame.

Bit greedy though. I always thought he should have kept the Pistons at
the Siverdome. Much more room and easy access. THE problem from what I
recall was he wasn't getting what he wanted from the concessions,
specifically the beer sales. He departure led to the Ford's departure
as well and the dome sits empty.

Michigan is 5 month state....seems something of an entertainment venue
could be placed permenatly into that stadium for at least winter use.
Maybe a giant water part, roller rink, skate board, tennis, vollyball
etc...emporium...
What does it cover like 10 acres.

Oh sure. Keep the Pistons in a place built for concerts and football
rather than building a first rate basketball arena. Right! You prove
with every post how much of an idiot you are.

The Pistons moved to Auburn Hills in 1988. The Lions moved to Ford
Field in 2002. Kind of a slow departure wouldn't you say?

Many attempts to sell the Silverdome have failed, however it was
reported on July 10, 2008 that the Pontiac City Council had voted 4-2
to approve the $20 million sale of the arena to help solve the city's
financial issues

If that sale goes through, it wont sit empty for long. And how can
you say Michigan is a 5 month state? Are you totally daft? You know
the Red Wings play from like October to June. Pistons November to
June (if they're lucky). You have skiing in the in winter as well as
tons of concerts and other activities all throughout the state. I
know this and I don't even live there. Doesn't say much for you.

Most of the room wasn't being used and of what was were cheap ticket
seats. The Palace off of I-75 is much more accessible the Silverdome
at Opdyke and Featherstone.

and I suppose you think that all people should rent rather than buy a
house. The fact is when Davison (sic) built the Palace it was with an
eye towards other things which turned into the Shock, Vipers. concerts
etc. So why should he have continued to pay the City of Pontiac for an
outdated barn?

I really don't find the Palace to be that great.

Seats are too small and the suites are too distant.

And when you're trying to get to the game coming off I 75 you can be in
quite a traffic jam, and literally miss a portion of the first quarter.

Bottom line it's just an arena, the Silverdome was fine. All and any
negotiations can be worked out. What the hells the point of having all
these facilities when the only one winning are the Red Wings anyway...

Well maybe if your ass was smaller, the seats wouldn't seem so small
and if you replaced those coke bottle glasses you wear with some real
eye wear you might be able to see.

At least you have a chance at the Palace. At the Silverdome you might
not get to the game until the final buzzer.

The Silverdome was never designed for basketball. You want to see a
place designed for basketball, take a look at Conseco Fieldhouse. The
Palace, though older, shares many of Conseco's attributes.

Not to small for White people.

As if getting off at M-59 and Opdyke is a bed are roses.

Are you really that fucking stupid? That's a rhetorical question.
Davidson (Davison to you) built the Palace as multi-use facility that
can be generating income all year round. You're just pissed because
there is no more $8 seats.

Silverdome was never designed for basketball you say, or should I say
you repeated from another foolish source.

It was the Pistons home, they were happy and it was suitable when they
left the Detroit's Cobo Hall. The Dome was a multiplex!!!

They'd still be there if the revenue on the beer was shared with
Davidson.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontiac_Silverdome
Conception
The decision to build a domed stadium in Pontiac took place after a
late-season football game at Tiger Stadium resulted in a half-dozen
pairs of shoes being lost beneath the muddy surface and not recovered
until the next spring. Completed in 1975 (as the Pontiac Metropolitan
Stadium, or PonMet Stadium for short) at a cost of $55.7 million, the
Silverdome seated 80,311. It contained 102 luxury suites and 7,384
club seats.

Now how about providing a source that says otherwise!

HEADLINE: 'Successful' Stadium Drains Funds of Pontiac, Mich.
DATE: May 30, 1978
AUTHOR: Reginald Stuart, New York Times

The Silverdome has been running in the red since its doors opened, and
the city's general operations funds are being drained by the effort to
put it in the black.... The stadium's financial difficulties appear to
stem from decisions to make improvements beyond those in the original
plan.... $2.3 million is being spent to prepare the stadium, which was
built to football specifications, for basketball and soccer.

It's amazing. You provide him with a New York Times article saying
specifically that it was built for football, and he lacks even the basic
guts and honesty to admit he was wrong and that it was retrofitted for
basketball.

Of course, he still won't admit he's been posing as a woman all this
time, so there's no surprise there.

So, I'll put the reference back that he cut out just to underscore what a
nut he is.
