View Full Version : Posey
Andre 09-05-2008, 06:14 PM Celts still have to replace Posey, even if he is one of the toughest
players to replace because of his versatility. Any rumours out there
on players the Celts might be signing? We got the league by the balls
and we can't let go of the grip right now. I'm talking back to back
here.

My feeling is they're done with off-season signings. Maybe none of the
15 roster players fit exactly what Posey brought, but different
seasons mean different challenges and there is more than one way to
fill his void.
Best case (and most unlikely) scenario is Darius Miles is healthy and
able to defend the SF, PF slots, with Tony Allen increasing his
defensive duties against guards and swingmen. The threat Posey's three-
point shot was bigger weapon than his actual production. But they
still have perimeter firepower with House and possibly Pruitt, and
more of a developed post presence in Powe and Davis.

A lot of people said he was washed up, but I would have like to have gotten
Finley...
I agree that a perimeter shooter is needed.

They already have PP and Ray Allen. Eddie House is still there. Gabe
Pruitt may surprise in this area. When Rondo gets on a roll he makes them
all. KG's game is from 20 feet and in.
Honestly, I think they have enough. Plus, the number of people the C's have
that can warp or collapse a defense, either by drawing a double team on the
low blocks, or by way of one of their many slashers, WHOEVER is taking the
outside shot is going to be open for a three count at least.

I'm not sure that's enough; that makes only one core role player who can
shoot.
Then again, I guess last year we only had two...

posey wasn't a starter or even the first guy off the bench. he was a good
benchy, but still only a benchy.

So are we set then for another run at the title? Hard to get a reading
being a Celtic fan in Florida. I guess we'll see what happens at the
start; if Ainge has to make a move I'm confident he'll make a good
choice.
