If the Jays had a decent year at the plate they would probably have won 100
games.

100 may be overly opimistic, But I suspect they could have been contenders.
And, what if they had fired Gibbons sooner?

And if pigs had wings, etc etc etc,But yes your right, but they never
crossed that
level once and not many teams do it
any more.My guess is 90 to 95 wins this
season and most seasons would be a pretty good bet for post season, wild
card
contender for sure. Now if the jays where
in the nl.they would be right in the thick
of things already.

The m's had a 100 plus season a few
years back and where knocked off in
the first round I think? There are so many
variables for a team to win 100 games,
healthy staff all season, great pitching and
more great pitching,timely hits,and yes
some shit luck helps to.

In the jays case the loss of a lot of 1 run games, that have plagued
them in more
than this season.Think where they would
be if they had one just half of those?

Call it bad luck, shitty calls by bias umps
and make no mistake there is more than
one of those, who have effected the out
comes of games this season and others.

There are a least 10 or 12 games that
come to mind where umps calls have
effected the outcome of games this year
I can see maybe one or two,but when
you see double digits I can't help but
wonder.Just a few examples stairs
winning run that was clearly blown, the
clearly foul ball that incensed doc.
the phantom balk on bj,who had to
get four out against the bosox.the shitty
strike zone some umps have especially
for doc.who very seldom gets pissed
at strikes and balls, but he was clearly
ripped off many times in key at bats
this season,replay clearly should that.
etc etc etc!Even 1/2 of those games
gives them 5 or 6 more wins.

I am sure any fan of the jays can attest
to that, less we forget the catch by devo
and tag by gruber, that was a clear triple
play,upshaw called out for supposed
running of 1st line, that cost the jays
a key game in 85 and perhaps their
first shot at the ws.In all my years
of watching mlb I have perhaps seen
it called maybe two more times. But
never in a series game.

Alomar called out a home in a key game with the braves, even knuckle head
jimmy
scoffed at that in the broadcast.

It has effected other teams in the past
most notably the tribe who with the
yanks in a ws game where the kid
now a hero, reached out over the field
and gave the skanks a victory and
closed the season for the tribe, that
sucked big f'n time.I for one am
glad replay is gona finally be a part
of the game.

But the real key for them was timely
hitting especially in the first half, the
pitching has been rock steady all year
doc and aj should both be over 20 wins
and marcum close.Lack of run support
cost them probably a dozen or more
games. Also injury to vw and hill who
was surely missed this year.

Just as a side note if john a does not
get a gold glove this season,it's a freaking
travesty,for sure.He always makes almost
every game text book for any ss to admire

I sometimes think we all forget what a young upstart team from north of
the
border had done in less than 10 years
get into post season, and be one of
the dominant teams in the the al for
over a decade.three division crowns,
two pennants, and back to back ws series
wins. When you look at other teams in the
al,and nl,the phil's who have lost more
games than any other team in mlb.the
cubs.even the bosox,other expansion
teams like the m's and the ranger, rays then there is the tigers who
only got
one sniff in over 20 years, then you
have to go back to the 60's for
the last shot they had, shitty for one
of the oldest franchises in the al.

Sure we expect better every year and
are promised better by dip shits like
jp and his pimp godfrey,me I get
pissed to,but also know it takes a lot
to stay with the big boys especially
with the deep pockets of both the
skanks and the bosox, but the jays
have proved they are a big thorn
in both teams sides especially late in
this season, and if they can over take
even the yanks and maybe knock the
bosox out, that's dam good in my book.

Maybe we got spoiled by those back to
back ws series wins? Imagine being a
cubs fan? Or a leaf fan for that matter?
