Finally got around to seeing it. I give it two stars at best.
Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed reliving the Championship season. There were
definitely a few nice touches. The between games chit chats, the
commmentary from some of the people behind the scenes, and some of the bonus
material were fun. However, I'm looking at this as a Celtics fan, because
really...who else is going to buy this DVD?
My main complaint is how vanilla the entire DVD felt. This was an NBA
production and it just seemed to be aimed too much at the general NBA
audience. For example, as a Boston fan, I felt this production only
scratched the surface of how deep and old the rivalry between the C's and
Lakers really is. And when going from the 2 worst record in the league to
the NBA Title the next season, I thought they could have spent some more
time on PP, Ray and KG individually and collectively. After all, Danny
bringing them together is what made this happen.
Another complaint...while I said I liked the interviews, I thought there was
a little too much of Armond Hill. Not only that...WTF was Tommy Heinsohn?
He has been with the team in some capacity since the first championship.
They couldn't get him a little screen time to give some perspective to the
C's and Lakers and well as the C's place in NBA history?
We're Celtics fans. Unlike the Sox or the Pats, you don't get a lot of
"pink hat" fans. We demand substance. We got it on the court, but this DVD
was mostly frosting.

I'm still hoping that we'll get a second DVD -- both the Sox and Pats had
second, more detailed DVD sets apart from the official league one.

I heard there is one coming. I hope it's much better than the NBA
"sanitized" one.
I hope that Tommy H is narrating it as well. The C's won, we deserve the
home town view. We don't give a crap that Kobe won the MVP. The DVD should
be talking about how KG was a legitmate contender and how dumb the rest of
the nation is for voting for Ratface. It should be a detailed reliving of
the season. Talk about the stuff they fought through. For example: Like
how Ray Allen struggled at times but was always professional about his
approach. How Paul had to make the adjustment from being the Top Gun to one
of the Three. Right there are three story lines that found happy endings in
the playoffs.

The DVD was made to show the highlights and the reality of the
situation. Sorry it didn't address your delusional outlook on things.
Maybe that's something you should discuss with a professional
therapist.

They have made a "special edition" the past few years. I pre-ordered it
on amazon.com; they have the cover art on there and if you click on it
you can see the (disappointing) details.
San Antonio's special edition had 16 games, every win from their 4
finals appearances.
The year before Miami's had every game from the NBA finals and from the
ECF.
Ours will only have the 4 finals wins and game 7 against Cleveland
included. 5 games compared to 16 and 12 the previous two years. Very
disappointing.
Also, presumably they will only be in 4:3 as the previous two sets were.
I presume the other DVD will just be the same as the one that was
already released.
I am working on making my own widescreen DVD's of all the Cleveland and
Detroit wins. Unfortunately I lost my recording of the clincher though,
but I downloaded it. I guess I'll go ahead and burn the finals losses
too although I deleted one of them, I might download that...
