"...The Giants announced during the game that X-rays taken of
Umenyiora's knee were negative, but that only means there are no
broken bones. Umenyiora today will have to undergo further
evaluations, including an MRI, to determine why his left knee locked
up. The positive news for the Giants: Coach Tom Coughlin was informed
by the team's medical staff that there is no ligament damage."
At least we've got Kiwanuka.

"knee locked up" - "at least there's no ligament damage" - sounds
painfully like a torn meniscus - not good news.
Lubow 08-24-2008, 03:08 PM The NFL has rules to protect the teams' most precious property, the
QBs. Isn't there something the NFL can do to extend protection to
linemen as well?
Just a non-educated guess, but I suspect these guys are simply too big
for their own bodies for their own good or the teams, even if the
latter do not recognize that. I'm thinking about the NFL regulating
some size to weight ratio a physiologist could design just to keep its
resources healthy for life instead of cripples for life.
Just an opinion from a fan bored with too many injuries that hurt the
overall play within the league. And a fan disgusted seeing great
linemen reduced to limping old men when they turn 40 even if they are
limping millionaires.

Osi really isn't that big. He's more like Strahan in that he isn't one of
these huge guys. The play he got injured on wasn't really even due to a
hit. It looked like his knee just locked up on him. Hopefully it isn't
that bad.
