Bucs fan here, hoping for some opinions/info. It IS quiet here. Anyone
worried about Gustav? I hope it heads due west to Mexico.
Anyway, back to football. I think the Bucs will have a hard time
running vs. N.O. w/ RG Joseph out & a rookie in. Garcia has barely
practiced all summer & threw 2 picks vs. Jax. Galloway hasnt practiced
a lick. No one knows who the #1 & #2 receivers will be (loan us one or
2, OK??). So it will be a good offense vs. a good defense; Bucs have
given up only 191 ypg in the pre-season. Usually games like that end
up getting won by special teams.

If Jason David is on the field just throw 2 that side, you'll get those
yards back.

First of all, Welcome!
Its quiet in here because most use the Saints forums to do most of the
discussing. The Saints added a few defensive players to the mix which
should help put pressure, and a lot of it on the QB. Should be a great
game. I'm just glad this 8 months of hell is finally over and the
season is just around the corner...

Thanks, I have a lot of respect for Saints fans, having enjoyed many
call-in shows in the past to WWL & Buddy D. (is he still w/ us?). NFC
South team I cant stand is Carolina.
So, I hear talk the game may be moved, maybe to San Antone. What are
yall hearing??

Welcome, and thanks. This should be one fine football game. An
immovable force meets an immovable object. Has Jeff lost a step, or
still quick? How strong are you guys at corner? How did Josh Johnson
look in preseason?
Unfortunately, Buddy D. passed away a couple of years ago.

We don't know if Garcia has 'lost a step', because he developed an
injury and missed most of training camp and pre-season games. The one
game he played in, he was a little rusty at first, but 'seemed' to find
his stride before being pulled.
The defense appears to be much better than last year. I would bet that
there would not be a significant drop-off, at *any* position, if there
is an injury. In fact, I would bet that the backups would be starters on
about half the teams in the league. If the Bucs could ever get the
offense to look just *half* as good...

Garcia looked a bit less nimble vs. Jax. CB is good, so long as they
stay healthy; rookie Talib will be the nickel.Much praised in camp;
Gruden called him "the future face of the team." Johnson was so-so;
didnt play much. I think they hope to squeeze him by waivers onto the
PS.
Sorry to hear about B.D.; my fave line of his (may have near been the
end of the Ditka regime) was when he said the Saints were half-way
through a 20-year plan. LMAO!!

I saw something in Talib I didn't like, and preferred Porter, the CB
we picked. I guess that proves beyond doubt that I'll never be an NFL
scout! On the bright side, Porter is working out pretty good so far,
and may even start.
I wish we would cut our mediocre 3rd string QB Palko, and grab Josh.
He reminds me of Warren Moon, and I think he will be a star in this
league.
Good luck to the Bucs!

Could be Porter is more of a man-to-man guy, & Talib better in a zone.
We Bucs fans all thought they would go for the local guy, Jenkins.
BTW--the "other" Troy corner, Elbert Mack, made the roster; he had a
very strong summer. Not a big guy but seems athletic & instinctive.

Hey thanks Frankie....Great start to what may be a fine season. Even
the D looked OK, granted Tampa's O is nothing to write home about, but
we can measure success one game at a time. The rookie DB looked
solid, and that will prove important.
