I can't recall a season in which both Chicago baseball teams have
been scheduled to play at home on so many dates.

I can understand, and excuse, the scheduling on April 15th and 22nd,
when one club was concluding a homestand and the other was beginning
one. Even in the olden days, such flukes could happen once or twice a
year.

But there's no excuse for both clubs being at home for cosecutive
series, as is the case this week (White Sox hosting Mariners and Rays
while the Cubs host the Reds and Nationals) or two weeks ago (when the
White Sox hosted the Tigers and Red Sox while the Cubs hosted the Astros
and Cardinals).

On the flip side are all the times both teams have been on the road,
(May 2-5, July 28-31, Aug 15-17 and 25-27 and Sep 23-25).

The bandonment of symmetry in scheduling is an abomination, both with
respect to mix of opponents and now this nonsense with both clubs at
home or on the road t the same time for so much of the season.

This is a true tragedy for the White Sox. Their home game attendance
is bad enough, but given the choice between seeing the Cubs, or seeing
the White Sox...the Cubs will win out every time. The only hope that
the White Sox hav, is to be the ONLY team playing in Chicago on any
given day.

On a lighter note, it is interesting to see how the fervent White Sox
Fan, Gary S. Simon, has begun to make posts (both here and in the Cubs
newsgroup) which show that he is leaning toward admiration, even
affection, for the Chicago Cubs. He demonstrates the "fair-weather, go-
with-the-winner" attitude that is the hallmark of 99.9% of all White
Sox fans. Thank you very much, for the effort, but the Cubs don't need
you....they already have a solid base of life-long fans. Maybe you
should check out the Angels....maybe you will find that they have cute
uniforms, or something.

This truly seems like lazy scheduling. I can't even recall more than one
series overlapping over the past 10 years.

Even worse is the overlap of game times - on the few times both teams have
been at home in the past, one would play a day game while the other played
at night. I think this is the first year that both teams have had games
scheduled at the same time while at home, which seems like scheduling to
benefit the city isn't even being considered.

Sorry to crosspost this response in the Cubs' newsgroup, but while I'm here
I have to ask - have you welcomed Jeffy Alsip back to the fold yet? Since
this is the big year, has there been forgiveness towards him after you threw
him out of the newsgroup? Just curious, I don't miss his posts over here.

The Asslip is like dysentery - he is welcome nowhere
and is not deserving of foregiveness.

Many moons ago I went to a Cubs doubleheader (in the good old days
when bleacher seats were dirt cheap) and had to sit in the upper deck
(and was lucky at that as it ended up SRO). Guy next to me was
going to catch the Sox afterwards so he got a Chicago triple-header
in.

Here we have DickBoy. He is another fervent White Sox fan who
"usually" bad-mouths the Cubs. BUT, now that they are shoe-ins for the
World Series, he begins to makie overtures. Next he'll say "Congrats
guys! I knew you could do it!" followed closely by the inevitable "I
have been a Cubs fan all my life!"

All of these Sox fans are terminal "bandwagon hoppers"....willing to
lick the ass of whomever might be winning at the time.

Don't mind me saying so and pardon me for freeing the trolls, but I too have
posted a few numbers on the Tigers NG as well as the Twins (more recently),
but I be courteous. I'm not sure about any attendance report that you speak
of, although you should worry more about the national fan base that the Cubs
have these days.

I really don't think there are more fans nationally for the Cubs than there
are for the White Sox. America loves the White Sox and many believe that
they're America's team! The nation's fans like the ballpark, they love the
scoreboard, love the view and they like the mystique of U.S. Cellular Field.

After 2003, the Cubs blew it - big-time! The whole country felt let-down and
deceived by the most likeable and favored of teams in the major leagues. I
almost suspect that 2003 was a payback from the Braves for the Cubs sending
them Maddox in '93...... but that's another topic.

Once again the Brewers are your team to beat - and you'd better not lose
focus.

I can't top that, but I did once get to see games played at both
teams' parks in a single day. My father's friend was umpiring the city
high school championship at Wrigley, and took my brother and me along.
It was only my second time at Wrigley Field (and, to date, the only time
I've ever set foot on a major league field). That night, I went to a
White Sox game at Comiskey Park.

I don't get it, from time to time I hear of former Cub fans that have
switched to the White Sox, but I've yet to hear of in my 50+ years of
following the Sox of 1 fan that switched to the Cubs.

This is all based on nonsense. In the first place, there is no reason
to hold any respect for ANY nationwide fan. You can either cheer on
your LOCAL TEAM, or you're a dipshit. If someone lives in Boston, they
SHOULD be Red Sox fans...not Cubs fans. I can make some concession for
people who live in Nowhere (someplace that has no close local teams),
like our poor little Louisville Boy here. But if you live in Chicago
and you follow the Yankees, or the Angels, or the Cardinals...then
you're a dipshit.

In the second place, fans (wherever they might be) who prefer the
antiseptic steel of the White Sox new Jap-phone Field, over the brick
and ivy and marvelous HISTORY of Wrigley Field, are all dipshits. I
doubt that this is the case and believe that you are making shit
up....so provide some statistics (that I can't shoot a lot of holes
in) and we will look at it.

You are a true dipshit, why do you think the cubs travel so well with
there fans? The cubs come to South Florida and the Marlins have some of
their biggest attendance. The same is true where ever the cubs travel,
I, for example lived in Chicago for 30 years and moved to Florida for a
job, does this mean I can no longer root for the Cubs? I just spent
$2000 for a weekend of Cubs games against the Cardinals a few weeks ago,
does this make me a dipshit? IF so then I am glad to be a dipshit.

"Jap-phone Field"? The Sox ballpark is named for a cell provider, not
a Japanese cell phone company. Although you probably think Nokia is a
"Jap" company.

Add this bigoted comment to the long list of racist garbage you've
spewed:

"Of course it hasn't been reported! Your Jew owner made some calls and
smoothed the whole ordeal over." 8/29/2006

"We hate Piersczieneski (or however you spell it...all Polish names
should be replaced with the word "polish") with a hot passion...That
"pole" boy is worthy of a bullet between the eyes." 07/01/2006

"In Chicago, as well as MOST cities, counties and States, the clear
majority is (and always will be) White Anglo-Saxon Protestants."

"It appears that Osama Bin Laden is actually a White Sox fan! He
should fit in nicely." 12/02/2006

""What the hell language is Ozzy speaking? "Dooooo beeee deeeee best
you gots to beeeee deeeee best." I can ALMOST understand that. "Weeeee
got to fleeee deeee wonbooo unnnn deeeeekannnn deee frleeeee." Now
what the hell does that mean?...get an educated American speaker...a
really bad Spanish accent? They want to beeeeee deeeeee teeeeeem so
whyyyyyyyy not talllllkkkk deeeeeeee teeeeeeem" 06/06/2006

"tbone...tbone...tbone...tbone...I am sure that the chicks really dig

I keep looking for the sarcasm tag... I know it has to be hidden in
there somewhere.

I am not at all a Sox hater (btw, people who use Sux are just plain
lame), but you can't seriously believe that the Sox have more fans
nationally than the Cubs. C'mon... it ain't even *remotely* close.
