All things considered I reckon Svenne Goran Ericksen was a better
international manager than we gave him credit for. I am going to have
a bet on him taking Mexico to the WC semis.

I agree. Sven is a better manager than English people give him credit for.
We'd have never played a game like tonight's under Sven. I said at the time
it was a mistake to let him go. I'm not saying we'd have won a major trophy
under him, as the fact is we're probably just not up to that, but he would
have consistently got us into tournaments and maybe, with a bit of luck like
Greece got in the Euros, perhaps even win one.

if you look hard enough Baldoni, you will find some saying it at the time.
Qualifying a cert, quarters regularly, losing on penalties, or in Portugal,
having perfectly good goals scratched out

Sven's management was an Oasis sandwiched either side by consistent
mediocrity.
