The Twins seem to make an annual habit of screwing over useful players by
sending them to/keeping them at AAA, the bench, or the bullpen. Cuddyer,
Santana, Bartlett, and Baker have all enjoyed this process in previous years
so the Twins could protect the playing time of luminaries like Joe Mays,
Juan Castro, and Ramon Ortiz; this year alone, Span, Korecky, and Liriano
have all been shafted for the benefit of the crappy trio of Gomez, Bass, and
Hernandez...

So now that Casilla is due to come up with an injury, is Randy Ruiz going to
be the latest recipient of the "Thanks For Batting .400 For Us, Here's Your
Bus Ticket To Rochester" award?

Bass was outrighted to Rochester to make room for Casilla. The already-taxed
bullpen loses its last resort/mop-up man.

Howard, the Rock Cats fan (and don't look for help here in New Britain;
nothing to see here, folks ... except Toby Gardenhire, that is.)

I sure hope not. I'm waiting for the guy to get his first MLB HR. He
sprays hits all over the place. I think he'll hang on for another week
until Sep. 1st, and then be on the team for the rest of the season.

(Must resist K-K Gomez comment about bus tickets to Rochester...)

I have to give the Twins and Gardenhire credit, they made the right move --
Bass is gone (he may stick at AAA) and they kept Ruiz up... Gardenhire has
shown a much greater tendency to go with the "hot hand" this year even if a
young guy and guys like Span, Casilla, Kubel, Ruiz, and yes, even Punto and
Everett, have benefitted.
