If that were to be attempted, I'd hope Reese would tell him to shove it.

Doesn't he have a contract with another team......FOX sports????? I
don't think he'll pull a
Favre deal. I think he respects and loves his former team too much
than to put them in the
same turmoil as Favre did to the Packers.

Not to mention we have a guy much more suited and battle tested to take over
for Strahan then Greenbay does for replacing Favre.
His name is Justin Tuck.

Only way I would even want Strahan to come back is if we start having
injuries on the DL.

Now interviewing Anthony Pierce in the Giants huddle ... Glad they
made that headset rule ... So Anthony when I rush past the TE ...
you'll cover him so the QB doesn't have an outlet ... that Okay ??
Back to you Jack and Troy ...

But they are two of the several on FOX Sports I want Strahan to
sack ...

Troy Aikman suffered his tenth concussion this broadcasting season ...
This time blocking Strahan from the buffet ...

Not even then. DE is not like QB position, a drop off is huge in DE
as wear and tear started to kick in. It happened to the best of them
(like Bruce Smith, or LBs Lawrence Taylor, Carl Banks) and
unfortunately it happened to Strahan. It's time for him to retire...
for good.

Of course he can take a page out of Favre's playbook and bluff to come
back, and ask the Giants management to pay him $20 million to "stay
retire" the way Green Bay offered Favre (of course Favre turned it
down.)

Didn't Strahan's ugly divorce cost him like $25 million? I'm surprise
he retired at all and I thought he needed the money.

It "happened" to Strahan? If you think Strahan wasn't a huge part of last
years Championship Defense a got bridge in brooklyn I want to sell you.

He is on national TV and the #1 pregame show. It would be stupid even
financially to burn a possible 20 year bridge just for one more shot for a
few million more dollars. He could possibly make tens of millions at FOX
before all is said and done. I'm sure Bradshaw makes more than most NFL
players do now and WAY more than when he played. John Madden probably makes
more then ANY NFL player. I'm not saying Strahan will definately rise to the
top of the TV profession like those guys but he has a shot.

I'm not denying that, but I can see a pattern forming and at his age
it's not good.

From 1994 to 2003 he's been perfect health and a monster.

2004, 8 games, 4 sacks, 28 tackles
2005, 16 games, 11.5 sacks, 61 tackles
2006, 9 games, 3 sacks, 28 tackles
2007, 16 games, 9 sacks, 45 tackles

Not exactly a model of consistency. Also does he really want to come
back and risk looking old, getting pushed around by younger OLs, or
retired on "top" of his game and will forver be glorious in the
memories of Giants football?

There is precedent. Frank Gifford came back for two more years as a WR after a
one year retirement.

Injuries are part of the game in the NFL, you can't wish them away by not
mentioning them, you ALWAYS have to have a back up plan. Like any good chess
player (or GM) I was just thinking several moves ahead. That being said I
doubt Stray comes back tho.

Thats why I love the addition of Carr. There is a lot of teams right now if
their QB goes down it's season over, before the Carr move the Giants were
one of those teams.

I'll play devils advocate: half of Osi's sacks came in one game last year,
and while he has improved vs the run he never was nor will ever be a Strahan
in that area. If Strahan does come back and with Tuck on the other side we
wont miss a beat, just like I don't think we would have after Stray retired
with Osi and Tuck.... assuming Stray has something left in the tank.

Let's get something clear right now: any one declaring themselves a
Giants fan wants Strahan back, right now. To say otherwise means you're
not a real fan, because Osi isn't replacable with anyone else.

I'm just about as real a Giants fan as you can get ... and I don't
want Strahan back ... I agree Osi is not replaceable ... but Strahan
doesn't fill the bill either ... By the time he's in game shape
physically ... He still won't be in game shape mentally ... and to
look to him as the saviour for the season isn't fair to him, the rest
of the team and the Giants as a whole ... It looks good on
paper ...but in reality it wouldn't really help ... best to go with
the guys we have and hope they kick it up a notch ...

Last season, when he held out of camp while he considered "retiring," he
didn't really make much of a difference for roughly the first third of
the regular season (he was all but invisible until midway through game
5). Now he's a year older and has, presumably, not been working out with
the intention of playing (which I'm sure he did to some extent while he
pondered his "future" last training camp).

I'm sorry, but someone has to do this:
6, it's been nice, but according to the note above, you are not
a "real fan."
Please leave the premises.

Will miss the laughs, but Doc is still here!

6 sure had us fooled.

By the way, I just saw a couple of reports on whether Strahan is
interested in playing again. He says, "The cell phone is on."

If he wants to come back it's a no-brainer, you sign him.
Even if it takes him a month to get up to speed I think the "intangible"
effect of the Giants leader coming back in their time of need would be a
HUGE morale boost to the whole team.
And no one is going to sit here with a straight face and tell me he can't
outplay Wynn or Tollefson this year.
Chris is at least 95% right, because thats probably the percentage of fans
who would love to have him back.

He made enough of a difference where arguably no Giant has a SB ring on his
finger if he didn't come back.
But we all know how quick you have been to get in Strays corner in the past,
so no one expects it now.
I'm surprised even Hats seems in favor of it.

I'm not surprised you're acting like a douchebag.

Try to put your agenda (picking fights with me) aside and you might see
that everything I just wrote, and the possible outcome, is completely
reasonable.

I'm not so sure. Stray didn't exactly get into retirement without
first trying to negotiate a return. There were leaks that the major
(and some would say only) reason Stray decided to retire because he
felt Reese was "cheapening" him by offering no more than $6 million a
year. On WFAN today the figure $8 million was floating around, and I
think Stray would seriously consider coming back if the price is
right.

To this I agree. Osi seems to be hit or miss at DE. He either
dominates the game or gets completely shut down. 13 sacks last
seasons? Didn't he get 6 in one game vs. Eagles? So that leaves 7
sacks for the 15 other games. Not exactly consistency.

For three reasons:

1. It's obvious.
2. The Giants don't have any team leaders left. NONE!
3. It proves that I am a "real fan," unlike you-know-who!

Indiana Jones movies ... and a lot more ...
and I also like fishing ...

It's one step closer with Fox telling Stra he can play for a year and his

I'm not hearing any of this at the Democratic Convention.
