View Full Version : Chris Henry Back?
Chaos_Not@Home 08-19-2008, 01:43 PM While I'm not really for this move... I guess I do agree with John
Thornton
http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=6963
"If he's going to play for anybody in the league, why not here?" asked
defensive tackle John Thornton, who served as defensive captain last
year. "The Bengals took a lot of crap for him. Why let him go
somewhere else, and he goes plays for Dallas and he becomes a
superstar? He knows this offense.
"If he screws up, he's done. It's a one-strike policy. If everybody is
comfortable, if the NFL is comfortable with it ... in my opinion, as a
friend and a player, I think the locker room would light up just to
see him back because everybody's been reading about how tough it's
been with him with foreclosures and all that."
----------------------------
I know we often wonder if what Lewis says one day is what he'll say
the next, but he's been pretty adamant about not wanting Henry back
and I believe him. As much as he's been ripped for character issues,
then a couple of weeks back there were a couple of articles about
Brown "giving chances", etc... I have to think this is a(nother)
arguement Lewis lost.
DanielMatt 08-19-2008, 02:47 PM I don't think they had too much choice with Chad getting hurt the other
night...and considering the play of the "third" receivers.

They just can't help themselves. Mike Brown is like the character of
Theresa in "Looking for Mr. Goodbar." Eventually, this will kill the
team--like probably this time. He keeps looking at talent and not
looking at heart, soul and consistency. I'd rather have a team of
Corey Lynch's than a team of Chris Henry's. But we're stuck with
Henry--at least for now. I like what Daughtery said about how Henry
could be a tenor in the Vienna Boys Choir and he still should not be
on this team. Too many issues, too much history.
Wanna bet this is Lewis's last year? Unless the Bengals win the Super
Bowl with Henry winning the MVP, this will probably be it. It might
happen at the end of the season but if the Bengals begin losing--and
the crappy way they played Detroit makes it possible--then he may not
last the season.
It's not disgraceful; it's sad. The Bengals have talent and may have
had a chance to sneak up on people this year. Now, they'll be
disorganized, sloppy and make incredibly stupid mistakes. Watch the
OL begin to jump off-sides. Watch the DBs fail to hustle when they
get beat deep. Watch the RBs not churn for that extra yard or the WRs
fail to hold their blocks. It's a bad day in Bengaldom.

I think it will be, but now I think it will be Marvin making that
decision. It appears that on the official press release there is NO
quote from Marvin, which every other press release since he's been
here has had a quote from him.
Sure points to Mike Brown pulling the "I am the boss" and making the
decision over the guy he said was supposed to have control of the
personnel. I bet Marvin is SO pissed - because he'll take the brunt
of the anger.

What if it wasn't his move though?

Except by the time he is eligible to play, Chad and Caldwell will be
back. Henry is 6 weeks away from being available in a regular season
game (4 game suspension)

Is Stanley Wilson out of jail? Bet he has a few years left in him ;-)

Stanley the elder trashed a telephone pole at high speed years ago. I
saw that Stanley the younger was released recently.
As for CH15, he's good cannon fodder for the rest of the preseason, and
85 might be back in shape by then.
Does anyone know if CH15 would draw his salary while on suspension? I
kinda doubt it, but who knows these days.

Surely you're not suggesting that Brown would actually take the fall for his
own move?

come to think of it, it was #24, Lewis Billups who ended his earthly
career at a telephone pole. A darn good cornerback with the same sort
of demons as Stanley Wilson Sr. And speaking of Senior, I don't think
he'll be eligible by the time regular season comes around.

Oh hell no - I guess my comment was more rhetorical... we all know who
will lose in the end. Us, the fans.

I'd say Lewis has gotten away with enough incompetence and idiocy that was
his fault that if he gets fired for something that he is blameless for, you
won't find me sending a sympathetic Hallmark. I don't care the reasoning
for kicking Lewis. It will help this franchise in the long run when he is
out the door.
I'd love to see MB go with him, but I'm trying to be remotely realistic.
